I strongly doubt he's learned anything. IMHO, he was taking such extreme heat for it that it threatened to derail anything else he wanted to do. Perhaps the threat of impeachment for treason had enough support from Republicans that Trump was forced to backpedal. I strongly doubt he was serious about his retraction. Given his other statements, it's more likely he made a Freudian slip.
