    China was full tilt communist with the US being terrified of communist expansion - a foundational concern in our war in Vietnam.

    What you need to understand is the well organized change being brought about by the government of China.

    So you do understand that Chavez was a communist and ally of Communist Castro, that price controls are anti capitalist and 1 of 10001 interventions a liberal makes on route to communism?

    Yeah, he wrote a lot of failed bullshit. He's a failed philosopher, history is full of them. He believed he had discovered the key to history: Capitalism would be overthrown by communism and oppressed workers would finally be free. History did not work out that way.
    It's had no successes and the attempts to implement it have resulted in the deaths of millions, I owe it nothing but my disdain. Any fool can see that our system of Free People, Free Rights and Restrained Government is far superior than these failed philosophical musings of Marx.
    They always are.

    Venezuela had problems before Chavez and what Venezuela faces today includes serious issues beyond anything directly attributable to socialism.

    That country was struggling with over half its population suffering malnutrition, not having access to health care, having serious need for land reform, among other problems.

    They certainly made mistakes, but even the US can do that. We're just wealthy enough that we'll live through what's going on right now.

    yes attempts to implement communism were seriously flawed in all 132 countries that tried it but only 120 million slowly starved to death. There is an agreement among liberals to stop trying when they have killed 200 million trying to implement correctly. I guess they like round numbers

    yes look at Cuba/Florida. Capitalism works! Venezuela could have wealth like ours in 2 years if not for liberals all around the world who tolerate libsocialism despite the death toll!!

    actually capitalism is self correcting so there are no mistakes except where liberals interfere with the self correction mechanism of capitalism. Do you understand?

    ??? what could be more deadly than socialism? Socialism is testimony to the ghoulishness in a tiny part of man's soul. How else could it exist with that deadly record?

    Comparing the USA to a tiny island that the USA has attacked economically for decades, has backed several coup attempts, and has even attacked with military force is really pretty stupid, isn't it?

    The thing with Cuba is that it shows a gaping hole in our trust in free market capitalism.

    Had we gone full free market capitalist on Cuba do you really think Castro could have survived politically?

    so socialism would have worked in Cuba had it not been for USA?? Ever hear of East/West Germany? Ever wonder why when China switched to Republicans capitalism it instantly eliminated 40% of the entire plants poverty? What does that teach you?

    if we had converted Cuba to capitalism it would be rich now. Castro would have survived if he had turned capitalist but he was an uneducated fool so unlikely. Makes sense now?
