Don't think he's trying to say that, he is however saying this.

"In the real world, as measurable by science, CO2 in the atmosphere and in the ocean reach a stable balance when the oceans contain 50 times as much CO2 as the atmosphere. "The IPCC postulates an atmospheric doubling of CO2, meaning that the oceans would need to receive 50 times more CO2 to obtain chemical equilibrium," explains Prof. Segalstad. "This total of 51 times the present amount of carbon in atmospheric CO2 exceeds the known reserves of fossil carbon-- it represents more carbon than exists in all the coal, gas, and oil that we can exploit anywhere in the world."

Keep in mind that it is Segalstad and only Segalstad who has has no peer reviewed publications on the matter who is making this claim that oceans absorb 98% (50/51) of CO2 emissions. He then uses this incorrect assumption to conclude that CO2 concentrations will never make it to 280 * 2 = 560 ppm. We already know this claim patently false based on indisputable observations. We know that emissions are 4 ppm/yr. We know that atmospheric concentrations are increasing at 2 ppm/yr. That means the entire biosphere (which includes more than just the ocean) is only absorbing 50%. Furthermore, CO2 concentrations have already increased from 280 ppm to 410 ppm. That means we are already about 50% of the way to a doubling. There are no indications whatsoever that the progress towards a doubling will be interrupted naturally. In fact, with each passing year in which nature only absorbs 50% (which is far less than 98%) gives us that much more confidence that the natural uptake of excess really is 50%. And with each passing year that the uptake isn't 98% means that the remaining uptake to avoid a doubling will have to be even higher than 98% in the future. Segalstad's claim simply doesn't make any sense even a first principal basis.

Yes, well liquid CO2 is denser than water, but CO2 doesn't become a liquid till around -37 Celsius.

Your professor may have a problem there.

I think he takes issue with the accuracy of your measurements too and I always have to laugh at the peer review argument after climategate. Not saying I agree with everything this guy says but he is not to be summarily dismissed.

Um... don't you just dismiss NASA because they don't agree with your cultist views as a true non believer?

NASA? Oh you mean the small group of AGW zealots that use the NASA logo to gain credibility and not the rocket scientist and engineers that put men and machines in space.

By the way to be in a cult is to believe not disbelieve. Glad we cleared both these issues up.

The only one interfering with free elections are republicans with their gerrymandering and interference with voting rights while accepting monies laundered by the NRA from Russian mobsters. This goes back before Romney. Nothing new. You guys praise arbitrary selected phrases of our constitution in public while shedding its intent behind the scenes. . You guys luv dictatorships, especially the white ones.

“NASA? Oh you mean the small group of AGW zealots that use the NASA logo to gain credibility and not the rocket scientist and engineers that put men and machines in space.”

There are more then 18000 employed at NASA, not counting the multitudes of contractors. Small group of AGW Zealots ? Tell that to nearly every multinational major corporation that depends upon NASA’s research and data. You do get that the information and data they accumulate daily is essential for for the world wide communication industry. You’re a propagandist who, like other Trump/ republicans zealots just makes crapolla up because you don’t have a clue of the mission of NASA. You do get that nearly everyone depends upon satellite communications. Nearly everyone in industry needs to make long range plans as it’s all affected by our environment. They don’t depend upon ‘ zealots.” and thankfully they aren’t listening to Faux News for the important stuff.

Men and machines into space. . ....wow.

    Yes, 'tis true.

I don't have the balls to simply dismiss NASA's data.

    Please don't hurt me.

Anyway, even though gravity totally screws your professors opinion, this might be interesting: https://sciencing.com/make-liquid-co-5192428.html

Since you love NASA meteorologist so much you might enjoy this. You can argue about how much C02 the ocean takes care of but not the fact that it does. This site is perfect because it's right at your level. Just for kids.

"Ocean plants take in the carbon dioxide and give off oxygen, just like land plants. The ocean is great at sucking up CO2from the air. It absorbs about one-quarter of the CO2 that we humans create when we burn fossil fuels (oil, coal, and natural gas.) If not for the ocean, we'd be in even worse trouble with too much CO2."

Stumped for a rational reply when faced with facts ? Pretending you know more about AGW then NASA and every accredited university in the world, that’s the height of braggadocio. Only the really uninformed don’t know what they don’t know.

How would oceans suck up CO2 when gravity doesn't work in their favor, but opposite?

Is this all you guys do ? Suck up to an obscure study from the past that are irrelevant to the opinions on AGW by the publishing body itself. Didn’t you read the article in its entirety ? Guess not. It double from 5% to 10% and still, makes no significant change in the prognosis of the final outcome of AGW.
There are no countries in the world that agree with you. Deniers exist only in the political side of a debate among the most uninformed of the GOP. No accredited schools, no national corporations, no one with half a brain and without a political agenda agrees with you. <Rule 3>

You cultist are so emotional. I merely responded to claims that the ocean doesn't suck up C02. Take deep breaths. Oh wait! Don't do that you'll exhale C02!!!!!!
