What a bunch of nonsense. Mods can’t move these conspiracies over fast enough. Deporting people isn’t protecting the border, locking children in cages isn’t protecting the border, trading dignity for perceived “protection” isn’t to be proud about.

All threats, both foreign and domestic. Yeah, I’m sure Russia’s exuded from that in Trumps contract, since Trump has basically done what Putin wants to reform the Soviet Union (e.g the trade war with China).

Trump has shown himself to be a coward, and a great divider in chief.

You want to **** down the government? Fine, but know you’re also denying social security benefits and Medicaid to please your federalism.

No. It's the title of this thread that talks about shutting down the government for not paying for the wall.

Nothing in the title suggests that, nothing.

Great. Shut down the government - cause that’s what pathetic 13 year old Drama Queens do - they stomp their feet and wail and cry over Twitter about the injustice in their self-centered little world.

They don’t build coalitions of Congressmen to build a stronger country - cause that takes real effort and intelligence.

So yes, Mr. Drama Queen - shut down the government and add a few billion more to this year’s deficit - cause that’s what a child does when they don’t get their way.

Ok. So "Shut the government down" doesn't mean "Shut the government down"

I'm sure Mexicans will be relieved to hear that!

Veterans will be denied the care they need in the event of a shut down but that's what these unpatriotic right wingers want.
    No surprise.

Trumps only weak moment that I have noticed was not vetoing the omnibus bill. We should have shut the government down and cut a ton of spending and funded the wall right there. We should rethink our UN contributions and military spending with NATO and Europe as well. If we pull our missile defenses from Europe, they will beg for our protection and be happy to pay for it.

Well... if you're demanding the money for the wall.... what other government would you shut down that would compel the Mexican government to cough up?

Good, thanks, we can use the help in a few states.

More than 70 percent of adults surveyed in battleground states, which was sponsored by the Washington Post and George Mason University's Schar School, approve of increased border security funding But 59 percent do not want to see a wall built along the U.S.-Mexico border, and 64 percent would disapprove of any action that would prevent U.S. citizens from bringing parents and siblings into the country.

You should poll American Mexicans. They support it.

Several LW posters here are obviously paid by mediamatters/CTR/shareblue/other Soros/public unions/foreign entities/other lobbies, so who knows what their actual beliefs are? The way you know this is that they frequently post things average Americans simply do not care about... like three of them making Emoluments threads in one day and the like. They throw whatever spaghetti their employers put on a list, and then hope something sticks. Mostly their purpose is pushing nonleft threads out and keeping theirs on the front page. They are on every political forum and dominate many reddit discussion groups.

Are there RW or other anti-left shills here? Maybe, but who pays them? The aforementioned entities are documented to spend millions on shill internet posts... ironically often going on about "Russian bots" while doing so. It's irritating because a significant portion of it is funded by taxes via public union dues, not voluntary private sector money. It's doubly irritating because the forum allows it despite it being obvious. Of course a majority of LW posters here are not paid shills, most RW posters here seem to be either semiretired private sector like me, ex military/police, small business owners, annoyed taxpayers, etc.

I know you know this already, just taking your post as an opportunity to rant about it.

To the actual topic, if the left doesn't soften its position on illegal aliens, they are headed for disaster.

That the Democratic Party wants and does all it can to continue to keep an open border knowing the death, horrors and massive dangers of it because they think they get some votes out of it is outright treason and still another reason I claim the Democratic Party should be formally declared a domestic terrorist organization and essentially operatives of foreign governments, drug cartels and international criminal organizations for which it should be outlawed no different that Germany outlawing the Nazi party and for greater reasons that Germany did so. At least the NAZI party believed it was acting in the best interests of Germany - unlike the Democratic Party in knowingly, deliberately and calculatedly endangering every American and our national security in the gravest sense.

Ah, the Democratic tactic of making something up out of thin air and then ranting about it.

A tax on transfers and a modest tariff on Mexican made goods coming into the USA would pay for the wall.

Reductions in costs of patrol, capture and the massive costs of deportations, confinement, deportations, welfare and all the other costs would pay for the wall in the long run. Just the cost of capturing, detaining, housing, hearings and deporting HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS PER YEAR is astronomical.
