Since I no longer watch NFL foot ball this information comes to me second hand. It was reported that at the start of Thur night football, several anti American football players stayed in the locker room.

I certainly hope they were greeted with boos and cat calls when they came out!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did anyone on the forum see this?

I used to put on my jersey and hang out at the sports pub with friends and pretended I knew what was going on in the game.

    It was fun.

    I don't do that anymore.

Watching the NFL now is like watching C-span.

    Its all politics.

I don't pledge allegiance to any flag anymore. My allegiance is to the US Constitution. THAT is what soldiers swear to defend with their life, not the flat. And I stand with those who reserve the right to protest.

When you all elected trump, you might have well have passed out scraps of the flag for use as toilet paper. It has become a symbol of what's wrong with American and not the Constitution. It is now a symbol of fake patriotism and anti-Constitutional hyperbole.

The minute trump started demanding that people say the pledge, he crapped on the meaning and the core of American values.

While the constitution may govern us, the Flag represents us. When people protest the Flag they aren't just protesting a piece of cloth, they are protesting what it represents, which is America.

The Flag is a symbol of what we stand for, just like the Eagle is. It represents all of the hero's that died in wars, all of the struggles we have been through as a nation so when its raised, and a song is sung, and you protest it, you are disrespecting America. Everything from defeating the Brits and Nazi's to our Civil rights era, our inventions, the good and the bad, its all contained in that presentation of the Flag.

That is what we are respecting when we take a few minutes to honor it.....its not the cloth we are honoring but all the Americans who have suffered and sacrificed throughout our history.

Many act as if this is against Trump.

Colin took his knee or sat out the Anthem in 2016 when it was Obama the president. Colin began to unravel his career during the SF preseason.

Trumps will come and go but our Flag remains.

Its stood through enemy fire, hatred, division, fear...….we can always look up and see it no matter what we are going through as a nation.

It reminds us of who we are, why we continue to fight the good fight as those before us did.

It tells us that evil exists in the world but good does also and good will overcome.

Our Flag stands for something, just as Americans stand for something.

I don't care who takes a knee and I don't care if the owners keep some players in the locker room. Both players and owners have their rights. But guess who has the final word.

What BS. The flag represents the constitution and everything America stands for. People gave their lives fighting to keep the freedoms it represents. If only the NFL players were intelligent enough to realize this they would not choose the anthem or the flag as a target of their angst. I realize in their tiny brains they believe making millions for playing a game that most people play for free is just as awful as what soldiers endure as they give their lives defending the flag the players are spitting on but it would be nice if they could grasp that the soldier volunteerd his life to defend it and what it represents as compared to the millions the NFL players make for disrespecting it. Its a perfect illustration of the difference between people who respect America and those who dont. Only those who dont in this case actually got more personal gain from America than those who gave their lives, yet they disprespect it still. These players make millions...I dont see any of them donating their pay to support their anthem disrespecting causes. They have the right to free speech...we also have that same right and will use it to point at them and say scum because that is exactly what they are. If the NFL doesnt get this under control they will be associated with supporting anti american sentiment and they may want to look at the CNN model and how well thats worked out. Football is American, the last thing football fans want to see is players disrespecting America. Pretty sad when our national anthem is not broadcast. Ill put that blame squarely on the NFL.

This is one of the GREAT things about America. The football players have the RIGHT to protest. The owners have the RIGHT to penalize the players. We have the RIGHT to watch or not to watch. I have the RIGHT to rejoice in the knowledge that it is hurting the NFL's bottom line.

It has been pointed out..."what have these NFL players done in their off season to show their distaste for America?" Played golf? hung out at the beach? Traveled the world? Attended parties? They just use our entertainment to push a hypocritical agenda. I watch baseball...no NFL for me!

Sadly, today our flag stands for military aggression, extraordinary rendition, and torture. Our flag stands for ordnance delivered by drone and attack aircraft onto the heads and homes of innocent people.

    Are you proud of that?

Our flag stands for overthrowing legitimately elected governments. Our flag stands for false flag operations. Does that make you shiver with pride?

We can choose to help other countries or not choose to help them. Unfortunately, sometimes innocent people get killed or injured when we help. Sometime have to take a broad view and decide whether we are hurting more than we help. It is just as wrong to say we will never help because we might hurt an innocent person as it is to do nothing and allow innocent persons to get hurt.
I don't remember any of those legitimately elected governments. The choice is to just close our eyes and let the people in those countries suffer at the hands a government who more interested in their preservation than the welfare of their own people.

Sometimes it is a difficult choice and we have chosen badly, but overall, I believe we have done more good than bad.

Many of us who realize that we have strength in numbers and the acts of those players will hurt the NFLs and the player's bottom line.

If you don't remember, and are not aware of our overthrowing elected governments, that suggests you are very young and/or have not read much history. Besides Iran under Mossadegh, we have done that throughout most of Central and South America going back decades. United Fruit Company was one of the beneficiaries of those actions.

I spent a year in Vietnam when we were "helping" them. "help" is the wrong word, and quite Orwellian. We killed their people and destroyed their countryside with explosives and herbicides. I watched.

I also spent my time in Vietnam and I believe it was a mistake. I am possibly suffering the effects of Agent Orange and I lost a number of friends and acquaintances.

However, don't remember us "overthrowing" the legitimate government. We were asked for help by the legitimate government and we failed in that effort. And most likely we hurt more than we helped. But that was fifty years ago and I was thinking about something more recent.
