    .
What else would you expect? Level the playing field and the multi-national corporations are seeing that they are better off doing business here in the US instead of shipping their products in.

Trump hit a home run with the tariffs.

I'm happy for the 11K number, you'd hope it'd be a bit more but 11K jobs is better than no jobs.

Well, considering what you'll pay for those jobs in the long run, you may want to think about it.

Forst of all 11K jobs isn't even 10% of the total job creating in ONE MONTH.

Second, every single one of these jobs exists because of a tax you pay on every consumer product made from the materials covered by those tarriffs, tarriffs people in China, Europe, and anywhere else do not have to pay.

Not since the 1920's has it been our policy to prop up uncompetative industries. Even then, we did so to provide an incubator for up and coming industries and technologies.

Not so with the Trump tarriffs. Indeed, Trump never talks about technology or looks toward the future. Instead, he promotes fantasies of the past, and tells his faithful that that high paying union factory job with lifetime benefits is coming back, minus the union.

The world economy is moving in a different direction.

As with so many things having to do with world leadership, Trump wants the United States to quit, and cede the leadership role to others.

Over time, this will leave Americans with a lower standard of living. Being stuck in old technology industries, and paying a larger share for inferior consumer products. This is what happened to EVERY nation that adopted protectionism as a primary trade policy.

    They got left behind.

As has been pointed out many times, jobs created is the only thing their reporting on. They curiously leave out jobs lost because of the tarriffs. While jobs do get created when you charge tarriffs on raw materials, jobs also get lost for industries downstream that use those same raw materials.

If were going to have an honest debate, lets discuss jobs lost at the same time:

Government picking winners and losers is now en-vogue with Trump fans. Who would have thought they would so quickly abandon their free market ideology for the new ideology of Trumpism.

Meanwhile the number of jobs lost as a result of the tariffs is over 40,000, and that's before receiving the numbers from Volvo, BMW, General Motors, and Harley Davidson, who have all reported that they will be cutting/outsourcing jobs in response to the tariffs, but have not yet given an exact number

This report obviously disagrees with the 40,000 figure

So what happens when the Tariffs are removed (as they will most certainly will be eventually)?

This is an artificial support beam to uncompetitive industries. When it disappears.....*crash*

You are correct, the 40,000 is a forecast. But we've seen these type of forecasts such as the stock market was forecast to sink after Trump was elected. The economy was expected to tank with trump's policies, etc.

He hit a home run...for the rest of the world. He added 600$ Billion in additional revenue for the rest of the world (or, to put it another way, he has increased the U.S. Trade Deficit by an additional $600 Billion).

You’d need to be damn economically illiterate to not see how these tariffs, especially the ones on steel and aluminum, will cost jobs.

Doesn't change the fact that you are conflating what HAS happened with what someone claims WILL happen. And you’d need to be damn economically illiterate to not see how these tariffs, especially the ones on steel and aluminum, will create jobs. I sell to two steel mills. One has a melt shop and this will help them and they are expanding accordingly. The other does not and will cost them in the short term but they have already start the process of building their melt shop which will create the jobs necessary to plan and then construct it and then the employees to operate it.

It's a matter of NET jobs and so far it appears that net is on the positive side.

You can’t be serious? Every single American industry that uses steel and aluminum as inputs has just become less competitive globally and demand decreased locally. How in hell do you expect those policies to grow employment. Dude, wake up. This has been tried and we know how it ends.

What demand has decreased, my largest auto plant is in the middle of a $30 million expansion and two other companies are in the process of building a HUGE new plant.
