Venezuela's massive currency devaluation is a 'scam'...
Venezuela's massive currency devaluation is a 'scam' — and does 'nothing' to ease its economic crisis, analysts say

    • 20 Aug.`18 - In a radical attempt to end a prolonged period of economic turmoil in the oil-rich, but cash-poor nation, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced Friday that his socialist administration would issue new banknotes after lopping five zeroes off the beleaguered bolivar.
[*]"I want the country to recover and I have the formula. Trust me," Maduro said in a speech broadcast on state television Friday evening.
[*]The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has predicted inflation in the country will exceed 1 million percent this year.

Aug. 19, 2018 — Residents of a border town in northern Brazil that has become a main entry point for Venezuelans seeking refuge destroyed migrant camps over the weekend in one of the most dramatic instances of a backlash to the Venezuelans’ growing presence there.

The left can't address this, its a huge embarrassment to them after they put so much praise on this nation for what they were doing.

They claimed that it was the example the US should follow, they constantly used them to point out flaws in America.

Well, we are still here, doing better than ever and their little Utopia has collapsed miserably.

I wonder if these socialists consider anything about reality? Do they not realize the same people running big greedy corporations will just move over to running the government under socialism? Then there will be nothing to regulate their greed. These socialist governments are notoriously corrupt and it is the people that end up suffering as a result.

Bullets have always been a great bartering tool. Especially after they have left their brass casing.

Strange, when I point out countries that have the things Ocasio wants like subsidized healthcare and college tuition that are doing great like Denmark and Sweden, the Right is quick to tell me those countries aren’t socialist.

    So which is it?

In my experience of similar discussions elsewhere:
    • They are indeed failing communistical hell-holes, overrun with immigrants, taxed to the point of submission (and beyond)
    • They are smaller, homogeneous, countries (though how that is squared away with being overrun with immigrants is anyone's guess) where the US is much larger and more diverse and so it wouldn't work in the US (presumably because black people)
    • Things that work just fine in other parts of the world simply cannot work in the US because of US exceptionalism
    • The US is the best and so anything anywhere else in the world is by definition worse.
    • Low (and falling) social and economic mobility and high (and growing) inequality is a good thing - because *reasons*
That said, the Scandinavian countries have a completely different outlook than the United States. They are much more likely to do something for the benefit of society than for just themselves. It's not because they are "better" than Americans, it's a different society with a different set of mores and a different set of priorities.

edited to change the bits in red (because I'm an idiot who didn't proof read his post well enough)

    Where did I say that?

It’s about as capitalist as Russia and the Right loves to heap praise on Putin.

State owned industries led by oligarch friends of the autocrat, kleptocratic structure for the rest of the economy, reliance on oil revenues to keep the economy afloat, unnecessary military modernization and expenditures, sanctions by the outside world, failing social welfare programs that don’t live up to their promises.

Am I describing Venezuela or Russia?

I'm not praising Russia for anything. However, your defense of Venezuela's socialistic regime is hilarious. Your red underwear is showing. :roflol:
