Here's a few excerpts about Idlib from Moon of Alabama:

The fight to take Idlib will start After Sept. 7.

Turkey was given until Sept. 7 to remove al-Qaeda and the others, who rule over 70% of Idleb.

Idlib is a cesspool where different Jihadi factions fight each other. About 300 members and leaders of such groups have been assassinated in the last 4 months.

The Syrian army and Russian military police opened corridors to allow civilians to flee the area.

Idlib was established as a de-escalation zone, not expecting the terrorists would use civilians as human shields.

The terrorists use the area to carry out raids and shell the positions of the Syrian army and the Russian airbase.

The battle for Idlib will be the biggest battle of the war in Syria.

After the Syrian army takes Idlib, they will retake the areas Turkey is occupying.

Then there is the area the US is occupying for their Kurd proxy. The US is underestimating the hostility towards them, and will end up in a hopeless fight with local guerilla forces.

Of course Idlib is a cesspool.. Its swelled to a population of 3 million and most are refugees from other parts of Syria... and like the original demographic os Syria its about 70 % Sunni.

Russians and Syrians should be allowed to kill as many Syrians as they want and then let Russia be a “superpower” and pay for the reconstruction of the country. I bet brainwashed Russian taxpayers will only support this.

Its a great place and opportunity to test tactics and military equipment. With the US and Russian millitaries active and in close proximity it is also a good place to test things like radar tech and get experience with tracking some of the latest military aircraft, or knowing you cant and need to improve your systems. Russia and the US have had an opportunity to test these things with top fighters and drone tech in this conflict without directly engaging in the latter.

The Russian Military in Place to Cover Syria's Final Offensive With Huge Naval Armada, Hypersonic Missiles
    [IMG]
A powerful Russian naval armada led by a Slava-class cruiser has assembled in the Eastern Mediterranean, while hypersonic-armed MiGs are in the air over the Caspian. By all appearances it looks like a Syrian offensive against Idlib Jihadistan is a go and Russia is making sure there will be no interference.

Well, Bolton is doing his best egging them on... the Jihadists, that is!

Maybe not.. The claim by Russia that the Syrian rebels are going to pull off a false flag gas attack may be a justification for the bloodbath to come in Idlib. They have talked about Chlorine cannisters, but that could also be for water purification.

Idlib's population has swelled to 3 million refugees from other parts of Syria and they sure aren't all ISIS.

I read somewhere that Russia is holding several corridors for the native population open, so they can get out and into safety.

    I agree!

US Army Sends More Military Hardware to Northeastern Syria
The US Army has dispatched another long military convoy to the regions held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Hasaka province, local sources reported on Tuesday.
The sources said that the US has sent a convoy of a hundred trucks to Syria from Iraq via the Simalka border-crossing on Monday.
They further said that the convoy included several tankers, military vehicles and bulldozers, and has already arrived in SDF-held regions in Hasaka.

Also, the London-based pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported last week that the US army sent over 800 trucks packed with military equipment to Northeastern Syria for its military bases and military airports on Eastern Euphrates and in Aleppo and Hasaka provinces in Northeastern Syria.

It also said that in addition to the trucks cargo planes carrying weapons and military hardware as well as logistic equipment landed in Kobani airport in Northwestern Aleppo.

"A sum of 150 new trucks carrying construction materials, military equipment and weapons have been sent to the US bases," the SOHR added.

Fars and Sputnik? I don't believe them.

Assad is going to kill thousands of civilians in and around Idlib.. This is damage control before the fact.

When the rebels launch a chemical attack and blame it on Syria, are the Americans going to be so stupid again and buy it? Didn't they work out how soundly the rebels punked them last time? Or is Trump actually pro-jihadist on the sly?

I think Russia and Syria are preemptively trying to justify the slaughter that's coming to Idlib.

Turkey was talking to Russia yesterday expressing concerns for up to 3.5 million civilians stuck there - seems it is where people have been ejected to. Syria was offering to come to a solution without war if the Rebels were up for it. However lets not get started on civilians here. Israel started the 'it is fine to kill civilians - they are collateral damage' which was quickly picked up by the US and of course is going on in Yemen as we speak. The non care of civilians is disgusting but at the current time it applies to all powers.

Out of those 3 or so million people, how many are ISIS?

This is genocide. Assad wants to kill Sunnis who used to be 74% of Syrians.

No idea it appears to be where the rebels were sent when other places were taken. How many of the people in Raqqa and Mosul and Yemen were and are civilians. They are all at it. In fact in Raqqa they let ISIS escape.

I presume, the same way as last time. I'm hoping Trump has woken up since then and doesn't get himself punked again.

You think there are 3 million "rebels" in Idlib? Those people are just families trying to find a safe place away from Assad.
