I could be wrong, but aren't the people of Puerto Rico US citizens.

He compared Maria to Katrina and bragged that only 16 people died in Maria, at the time when the claim came that the death toll was much higher Trumpers came out and defended the President's comments. I wonder if those same people will still do the same.

It was a fantastic job, from his viewpoint.... a lot of Mexican Rapists got killed and didn't cost him a thing...

Trump is shameless.. trying to take credit for Puerto Rico. Is his behavior OK with you? We have known for 6 months that the death toll was far higher than initially reported. You can look that up in the artchives if you need verfication.

Your half wrong and half right.

Puerto Ricans were awarded statutory citizenship.

    Natural born citizen.

    Native born citizen.

    Statutory citizen.

    Naturalized citizen.

Anchor babies who aren't citizens but illegal aliens.

Trump did pretty well, especially considering Obama destroyed Puerto Rico before the hurricane was even an issue.

the term "******-bag" comes immediately to mind as i read the drivel posted by the never-trump crowd. i seem to remember a similar sentiment expressed by one of puerto rico's leftist political animals, as pallets of food and water sat waiting for someone to bother distributing them to where they were needed. the response, both from the public sector and the private, was more than adequate, but still the do nothing dolts whine on and on. puerto rico is about the same size as the los angeles basin, but the powers that be couldn't seem to distribute the aid that came pouring in without someone to hold their hands and tell them exactly what to do. though i'm an atheist, i still appreciate the sentiment of the quote - the lord helps those who help themselves. all of you entitled little twits seem to think that someone should shove the food down your throats and rebuild everything without your raising a hand to help yourselves. y'all get more pitiful every day.

He can't help the corruption and incompetence of the democrat leaders inside Puerto Rico, who have been caught STEALING AID , WITHHOLDING AID, and GIVING IT TO THEIR POLITICAL ALLIES ONLY; IOW: TYPICAL DEMOCRAT BULLSHIT.

The SAME DEMOCRATS are also responsible for Puerto Rico's infrastructure decaying to preposterous levels BEFORE the hurricane came...making recovery ten tines more difficult, costly, and slow.

They are US citizens, but PR is not a state. They could be a state if they wanted to, but they don't want to. Its not Trumps fault.

This is harsh, but pretty accurate.

Puerto Rico was a train wreck long before Maria. The local government is notoriously inefficient, they're some $70+ billion in debt I think, and almost half of Puerto Ricans lived below the poverty level even before Maria. Puerto Rico is poorer than any state in the US. The nice parts are beautiful - and the poor parts are like a third world country.

I'm fairly familiar with both Puerto Rico and with the British Virgin Islands. Both were demolished by Maria, but the difference I saw in attitudes was night and day. While the BVI residents set about to "pull themselves up their bootstraps" and went to rebuilding, too many in PR simply sat around waiting for someone else to come fix everything (or they jumped at the chance to come to Florida, amounting to hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans straining our resources.) Nevermind that their power grid was a complete flustercluck before the hurricane, they somehow thought they'd have power restored overnight. (Umm, no.)

I was part of a group organizing and delivering supplies to the island following the hurricane. It is true regarding donations and the problems trying to get enough Puerto Ricans to actually help distribute the goods. Meanwhile that mayor (I think she was mayor) was too busy running around attention whoring, playing partisan politics, and having t-shirts printed.

What happened in PR was sad, but it was caused by a once in a lifetime type natural disaster, and they were a wreck already.

I don't know the solution. Instinct says I wish we could cut them loose entirely.... Whatever happens, I hope they are under a microscope now, as much money as we are spending (and considering their track record.)

For the love of God do you ever give the race baiting a break? Puerto Rico is only something like 10% black, so go play your race card elsewhere.
