The mom could get distracted and easily leave her child in the car more than 5 min, even though that was not her original intention. The person seeing a child left in a car may have no idea how long that child has been left there.

As a general rule, if someone spots a child in a car and the mother isn't back by the time police respond to the scene, she has left the child in the car too long.

How long do you think police should wait before breaking the window? The child could have been left in there for hours.

 

Irresponsibility is irresponsibility. I suspect women who get abortions are the same women who leave their toddlers in hot cars.

 

Really good article and discussion. Yes, I agree there are times to get involved but then there are other times to observe before getting involved. After reading the article there were several issues that stood out to me, loss of privacy, lack of common sense in the justice system and the emotional trauma that can be inflicted by our actions and the actions of others.

 

My point is it wasn't the heat that was the problem. Also, you can in fact go into a store and make purchases in 5 minutes. If I read the article correctly, she only went in to get her son a pair of headphones. If that was the only thing she went in for, then it's well within the possibility to make a purchase. While I personally wouldn't leave any children I may have alone in the car for any reason, if the conditions were that of what was in the article, then I wouldn't be too concerned about it. If anything I would stay and watch the kids from a distance until the mother returned. BTW, while kidnapping and carjacking is a concern, it's actually quite rare, especially in the place described in the article.

Long story short, while it's something I wouldn't do, it isn't the end of the world and I wouldn't make a big deal out of it in this case.

A fetus does have rights and at a certain point it's illegal to have an abortion. My morals of not killing babies is shared by millions and once roe vs wade is overturned you can try and justify being on the wrong side of history by being pro killing unborn babies

I remember once my mom stopped at the butcher, (yes I know dating myself) and left me in the car to run in and pick up something....at some point I threw the car in neutral, and rolled into the car ahead of me.....She didn't do that again....At least not with the keys in the ignition....lol...
