Minnesota legislator quits race after daughter says he molested her

Just curious what folks think about this mess.

Will the daughter be trashed and called a liar.

How does the mother react to these allegations.

 

I'd like to see what logical1 says about this.

 

Well that's about as devastating as you can get in the world of politics.

He basically has no defense here politically and actually needs to worry about criminal charges.

Being accused of doing something with a child is bad enough but when its your daughter that's the extreme bottom of the barrel.

That is one time I would automatically side with the accuser no matter what party you belong to.

The odds of a family member making this up are just so low as to almost not even be considered a possibility.

That is crazy. I thought it was messed up when 6 of congressman Gosar's siblings came out in an attack ad against him but this is a 1000 times worse. Having your child accuse you of molestation for 10 years is about as bad as it gets.

 

Did you not read your own snipet? "SHARED EXTENSIVE DOCUMENTATION" ... "IF" the abuse is in fact DOCUMENTED, "trashing" the victim would be futile. I wonder why you puzzle over the wifes "reaction" ... DOCUMENTATION pretty much rules out any sort of personal denial out of loyalty doesn't it? According to reports the abuse continued until roughly 3-4 years ago, and the fact she came forward relatively soon with her allegations does make her more credible IMO. I say "relatively" because your obviously trying to surrepticiously legitimize the much belated allegations made aimed at Kavanaugh. I don't think it's as clever a "gotcha" as you'd imagined.

Wtf? How can telling of molestation by your own father be "partially politically motivated". So instead of speaking up during those 10 years (even as she was an adult), instead of speaking up to save yourself, others, to make it stop, you instead wait and speak up so he doesn't get elected?

 

Sometimes the rest of the family, including the mother, have too much to lose by exposing the father (breadwinner) so they cover up the abuse and condemn the accuser.

We had a Baptist preacher in our town who molested all three of his daughters when they were growing up.. It wasn't until he began molesting his granddaughters that the family stopped him.

 

I'd say the wifes reaction perhaps calls the unreleased documentation into question. Your snipet say local media was about to broadcast the documented details of abuse. Has that happened?

Didn't you start this thread, and weren't you the one who was curious as to what the wifes reaction would be? Bluesguy, the post you steered me to, has provided the wifes response. So is mom "trashing the victim"? What documented proof substantiates the girls claims and shows mom's in denial? Google is a search engine, not a forum for discussion or intellectual exchange. What do you have to share on the topic you chose?

The question is did the mother know.. having nothing to do with skin color. Are you OK?

The head of the savings and loan in our town molested all his daughters.. and they kept quiet for decades.. Then he molested his new daughter in law and the wheels came off.

 

So in this case you are siding with the accuser no matter which party he belongs to. So does that mean at other times your believing the accuser will depend on the party of the accused? That uses question not an accusation.
