It is not just women's health but also children's health that is worse in states with anti abortion legislation

I suspect it depends exactly how you define "later in pregnancy", or "extremely rare".

The statement doesn't have any real definite meaning using ambiguous terms.

If we're talking about 14 to 19 weeks, it's not "rare" at all...

Josie Cunningham got an abortion at 12 weeks just to get a nose job.

The last I heard she was going to get another abortion at 18 weeks:
    https://closeronline.co.uk/real-lif...ningham-planning-abortion-appear-big-brother/

Fortunately she changed her mind after a public outcry and the Big Brother reality TV show threatened to drop her.
    https://www.change.org/p/channel-5-...into-the-big-brother-house-after-her-abortion

    https://metro.co.uk/2014/04/21/big-...nningham-will-not-appear-on-the-show-4704326/

The Guardian even put out an editorial that the public should support her choice to get the abortion, "to further her career":
Why we must defend Josie Cunningham's right to an abortion

    Baby at 18 weeks:

I hate to tell you , again, but TV shows, movies, cartoons, aren't real and certainly have nothing to do with women's right to their own bodies or their health...and they "prove" nothing...

If we're going to have 20 week bans, they absolutely must include exceptions for the discovery of birth defects and other debilitating conditions that may be present.

AWwww, ya know when you first started posting here I recommended that you look up the difference between "born" and "unborn"...I'm sorry you haven't done that yet....

..and you couldn't/didn't refute ""Seems no Anti's want to address the health and lives of born children...….."""

Hilarity ensues when you tell right wing plebes that Reagan was pro choice.

Why do pro-choicers care so much about born children, when they didn't give a sh(*)t about them 3 months before?

I see you couldn't address my post.

Who said we didn't "give a sh(*) about them 3months before?

    Three months before what?

If you mean before birth I can care all I want but it's the woman's decision, her body, her fetus, her choice, her rights, that is what I care about...the person who is BORN and has rights...

It has also been forgotten that Reagan's wife pleaded to have stem cell research financed by the government in order to save people like him when he lost his marbles.

It will be interesting to do a longitudinal study in NY to see if the new legislation has an impact

Its about time you admitted that. The truth is that they cared about them the whole time, We just didn't know until they were born .The same way we know that you never cared.

Correlation does not necessarily imply a particular line of causation.

    Just because A is correlated with B, doesn't mean A causes B.
It could be the reverse, B causing A, or there could be some completely outside factor causing both of them, that is C causes A, and C causes B, so that's why A and B are correlated.
New Mexico has some of the most liberal abortion policies and they don't have that good of women's health.

However it does not negate it either the key word is “necessarily “. This is why longitudinal studies are considered powerful as they are not confounded by incidental issues. If you have a stable population but change one variant then the outcome is a reasonable measure of the impact of that variant

Yes, but many of these factors do not change over time.

Exactly which is why when you change one factor like the abortion laws you are better able to study the effects

Abortions began a steep increase at the same time many states began legalizing it.
But Pro-Choicers often like to say Roe v. Wade didn't cause any steep increase in abortions, even though it came after that.

NO, Pro-Choicers say that since abortions were not RECORDED OFFICIALLY before they were legal THERE IS NO WAY FOR YOU TO CLAIM THAT RATES ROSE.

    AND

SO WTF IF THE RATE DID GO UP?

Abortion became legal so women didn't have to suffer through pregnancy and delivery they could now CHOOSE a LEGAL MEDICAL PROCEDURE!!!!:nana:

Then what has caused the decrease in the number of abortions?

Bumping this thread to remind those who are focussed only on the foetus that there is a real human cost to the political machinations related to abortion access
