I suspect that Black, Latino, and Native American activists would not be pleased if slots set aside for them at colleges and universities (to take just one example of “affirmative action”) started going to folks who can produce DNA tests “strongly supporting” the existence of a Black, Latino, or Indian ancestor six to ten generations back. In fact, such a policy would effectively nullify racial and ethnicity-based preferences.

Speaking of which, Warren, when she was a law professor, listed herself as a minority on a legal directory reviewed by deans and hiring committees. The University of Pennsylvania “listed her as a minority faculty member,” and she was billed after her hire at Harvard Law School as the school’s “first woman of color.”

This was no small thing:

At the time, elite universities were under immense pressure to diversify their faculties (as they still are). “More women” was one command. “More women of color” was the ideal. At Harvard the pressure was so intense that students occupied the administration building, and the open spaces of the school were often filled with screaming, chanting students.

They would have chanted even more vociferously had they known that Harvard was claiming to meet their demand with a White hire who may (or may not) have had a Native American ancestor three hundreds of years ago. They would have considered this not tokenism, but fraud. They would have been right.​

Does Trump owe money to Warren’s favorite charity? I think not. But maybe he should donate 1/1024th of $1 million — a little less than $1,000 — and call it a day.

The problem is that the entire "controversy" is a nothing burger that makes those who keep acting like it's a smoking gun look siily. There is no reason to believe that she lied. In fact, she didn't and I don't think enough voters would even consider this smear campaign at the ballot box. In fact, the mocking is so silly that she might get more support.

 

She's a crooked prosecutor for CA who thinks she is going to draw the Black Vote like Obama did. I'm not sure Black Voters really like crooked prosecutors!

Oklahoma's Cherokee Nation rebuked the results of Warren's DNA test in a statement Monday, arguing that the scientific assessment was “useless to determine tribal citizenship“ and “not evidence for tribal affiliation.“

“Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong,“ said Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin Jr.

“It makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is proven,“ he said. “Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage.“

In her video, Warren said she was not enrolled in a tribe and acknowledged that “only tribes determine tribal citizenship.“

I'm a 1/4 blood. I qualify for tribal citizenship but I look 100% African American. I have cousins who flatly deny being anything other than black even though they share my ancestry. If I put my tribal name after mine I know the response I'd get from certain, shall we say, less tolerant members of the public even though I'd be 100% entitled to under tribal law. Her parents told her she was Cherokee she believed them. If I knew someone who was even 1/128th descended from my tribe I would consider them a member if not a full eligible citizen.

How many people living in America think they are Swedish when they are in fact German (clue-Trump). I've had people claiming to be Scottish when in fact they're probably Irish if anything and they don't even know that Scotland is connected to England by land.

She made the claim based on what her parents had told her and had been passed down the generations. She appears to have been partly vindicated by the DNA test.

I think the whole thing is hysterical. Warren got busted trying to receive special status and cred. Then candidate Trump tweaked her with the news, and here we are today, with the liberal media salivating and the new revenue stream they are exploiting.

Pocahontas would have been better served if her tribal council could have convinced her to let it go. Perhaps she's trying to play catch up to her new rival in the NDP Progressive race, Sen. Kamala Harris.
