The firearm that was utilized in the incident was purchased within the state of California, rather than out of state. Therefore what is going on outside the state of California played absolutely no part in the matter.

Because there is nothing that can prevent what is ultimately human nature, and individual choice. One does not have to be mentally ill to decide they are going to commit murder. If one makes the determination that they are going to engage in the killing of as many people as possible, what can be done to discourage them from acting upon this decision?

Ah. I see. So you wanted to use this tragedy of murder to make attacks on people you dont know then, and make use it to make a point, without having a single fact about it.

Well done sir. You have managed to disgust me as a human being more than any other person this week. And on these forums, that's an accomplishment.

Then do explain it for us since you're claiming to be the subject matter expert. We're all rapt with attention

Then seriously, and without mutual praise:

Even with me, it takes quite a while before the police arrive to protect me from a bastard, who wants to break in, for example, etc. Just ... ask yourself, why I DO NOT insist on a gun or demand it!
The answer is that it is very unlikely that the bastard is armed with a gun! Thus, a baseball bat is enough for me to give the bastard a second butthole if there is no police and it should be necessary!

And how is that with you? The danger that the Bastard has a gun, is even very likely and of course you stand there without a gun very naked ... sure ... and if the police come after 20min and then has a murder case, because the bastard shot you a third eye in the head, then you want a gun ... understandable!

Only ... is this a sustainable situation in the US? Is it good to continue to live with this situation or would it be a sensible way to proceed with laws, controls and the appropriate implementation of police & co against the fact that bastards are legally ... more likely to be able to illegally buy guns

Actually is not the same stupid argument. It's the correct argument to have. One of the outstanding factors that play into approx. 75% of the mass shootings is the mental health of the individual. To ignore that factor shows little regard for the individual that is suffering and no desire to solve the root of the problem.

You have to be willing to do hard work to fix a hard problem. Painting over a problem, does nothing to eliminate the problem. You have to scrape the old paint off and get to the problem before you repaint.

You can order the parts over the internet and have them sent to your home.
Perfectly legal, until the parts are assembled.
So, there no basis for putting anyone out of business.

You are aware that gun registration does not prevent anyone from committing a crime with a gun...
... and so, you would like us to register our guns so it is easier to confiscate them at a later date.

Sure, the 1968 gun contral act bans private arms trafficking outside of your own state where someone is officially living ... but everyone knows that there are many gaps in this law. ;-)

But you are right to the extent that here in CA apparently on the paper good laws and measures are, but these have obviously failed somehow and that's why it is not a matter of failure of a federal law, etc.!

Where is it reported he was a regular there? I may have jumped the gun assuming it was politically motivated since it came so soon after the election results and at a conservative leaning country western bar. I really hoped I was wrong.

Where was it reported he hung out there and what was his party affiliation, was that also reported?

But yeah, anything could have been his motive for sure. He may have been hanging there casing the place to be familiar with it so to develop a plan to commit his terrorism. He could have been jilted by someone there. He may have just hated college students. Hopefully it will all come out because we need to know how to thwart these events in the future. That said, knowing how biased the press is, obviously we'll hear if he was conservative but will we if he was a liberal?

Libetals want to take all the guns

So mass shootings are welcome as long as we blame the gun instead of the shooter

as i said earlier, the law varies by state. i could not find anything regarding carrying in a bar in ca. but you stated it is illegal. but you are unable to substantiate that.

No. Simply make sure that there are less black market guns. Did you misread what I said?
