Investigating the president for dirt is not legislating. And what will they do if they, say, find an error in Trump's 1999 tax return? Pass a law that says it is illegal for a president to err on a tax return?????

A good post overall, but I take umbrage at a couple of things. One, criminal investigations are not the purview or proper role of congress. They cannot indict anyone nor take anyone to trial.

Little things???? Democrats were screaming for his head and clamoring for impeachment before he was even president -- days after the election. 90% of the media coverage is negative and the vast most of that is personal. Many Democrats routinely equate Trump to Hitler and his administration to Nazis. Though some of the less rabid ones just compare him to Stalin. He can barely get appointments through. There are pentagon nominations that have been languishing for months. There is an all powerful prosecutor who spends millions of dollars just searching and digging for something -- anything -- that might look bad for him. His former rival, Hillary, just exhorted all Democrats to be uncivil as long as Republicans are in power. Etc. I wonder what you would call big things?

Just common sense observation. But if you are a dem or repub voter, these things have no merit nor importance, for some reason.

I detest both parties, for neither one represents the majority in america, the average american, regardless of race. Republicanism? What a joke! This republic does not follow basic principles when it comes to representation. Not for the non elites at any rate. This is an observable fact, evidenced by congressional record as used by Princeton.

 

I don’t pat any attention to what talking heads from either side of the spectrum spew forth. Both sides are extremely hyperbolic and full of crap. Also, I am not worried about what some congressman or woman says to a news buzzard from either side on the sidewalk. I will look to what exactly these committees are up to when they are in power and how they conduct themselves on CSPAN during any hearings.

I watched three years of Benghazi hearings which were obviously a political ploy used to trash Clinton leading up to the election. The way that some of the Republicans treated her during the last hearing in which she calmly testified for 10 hours was disgusting in my opinion. Also the lunatics who attacked Rosenstein and Strzok like a bunch of rabid dogs earlier this year put on a disgusting display of badgering, accusing and bullying the likes that I have never seen, not even in Watergate.

Nunez using his position in congress to act as a mole inside a criminal investigation and report back to Trump was also disgusting and unethical in my opinion. I sincerely hope that the Democrats in charge of these committees do not stoop to these levels to get back at these jerks and act ethically, respectfully and professionally in any Commitee hearings they are involved in. It looks like Schiff and Nadler will be heading up a couple important oversight committees. Hopefully they will act a hell of a lot more ethically and professionally than their predecessors and keep their attack dogs in line. We shall see..

I do not think the Democrats are going to be stupid enough to impeach Trump unless the evidence of crimes is strong enough to get widespread support from the GOP congress.
