    My lifelong liberal Democrat uncle, retired Col. USAF, was recruited by Bush to the CIA, and later advised Ronald Reagan on the Soviet Union. There was no man my uncle respected more.

    RIP.....so well deserved after a long life of being a productive , successful human being that left such an imprint on the world. Leaving a legacy of caring, courtesy, tact, strong core values and diplomatic skills that are absent today.

    What vile attack? Why are you attacking me? All I said was that he was nothing like you guys are making him out to be and he wasn't when you examine the details of his life.

    I understand saying nice things as he has passed but his life and legacy in American politics and the history of American intelligence are far more complex than the nice things we say at funerals.

    Geez, right-wingers lash out reflexively when they hear truths they don't like. So defensive.

    Actually, the Bush family has played a central role in the history of the American power structure going back to before WWI into the gilded era. They have been the friendly face and helpful hands of the real economic elites in American society such as the Harriman's, Rockefeller's and Morgan's and Walkers. The have deep connections with covert intelligence and corporate power around the world that are largely hidden in the puff-ball biographies you are going to read now that G. H.W. Bush has passed. Many people living in the American miasma of patriotic illusion and corporate media propaganda just do not understand the role someone like Poppy has really played in modern American history.

    In fact, considering the often hidden role of the Bushes in what Eisenhower called the military industrial complex and what I call the military/industrial/corporate/intelligence complex, if one starts to understand what the Bush family is all about, one is on the path to really understanding the history of the American post-war era as it really is.

    I actually grudgingly admire the old gangsters competence and ability and his unique talent for operating in the shadows right under the nose of the American public while presenting the face of good, 'ol American family values.

    A very talented operative worthy of Le Carre.

    That's about as gushing as I'm going to get in my obit......:bye:
