Hezbollah tunnels into Israel have been uncovered.
According to the Jerusalem Post "The UN Security Council is expected to hold a meeting on the Hezbollah attack tunnels, but a date has not been yet."
Hezbollah is estimated to have about 140,000 missiles according to the paper.

The problem for Israel is the wind down of the Syrian civil war. This has enabled Hezbollah and Iran to focus more upon Israel. The placement of SS300 and SS400 surface-to-air missiles in Syria helps provides a cover for Iran and Hezbollah.

Hezbollah- to my knowledge - has never fired a "missile" into Israel. I think you must mean rockets.

    The Times of Israel
3 days ago ยท Israel has long warned that Hezbollah planned to conduct cross-border raids in any future conflict, with the specific goal of attacking and conquering a civilian town near the border.

Israel warned Hezbollah.....Don't do it!!!!!! [IMG]

Missile, rockets - six of one, half a dozen of the other.
If you throw a rock you can call it a missile.
For Israel the issue is accuracy - and Iran is helping Hezbollah
to make this happen. I can't imagine what 140,000 rockets, fired
more or less at once, will do to Israel. And I can't imagine what
Israel will do to Lebanon in exchange. The IDF speaks of
destroying all Lebanon's infrastructure - bridges, ports, airfields
    etc..
Kidnapping soldiers, sniping Israelis, building tunnels, violating
UN rules, smuggling rockets -- what exactly does Hezbollah
    want?

    Unfortunately you are right.
And like the 1967 and 1973 wars, the deciding
    factor will be Russia.
If you are a religious person you might notice
that the war of the restored Israel in the book
of Ezekiel seems to suggest that this is Russian
    involvement too.

mmm... the problem is Netanyahu has actively worked to destroy the Iran agreement and subject Iran to American sanctions. Did we really expect them to go... oh well... now that's too bad. I think aggression in return and escalation is predictable.

The difference is not as insignificant as you purport. The rockets are home made weapons akin to a sexed up firework.

A missile is a missile - a highly technological rocket and guidance system with a serious payload - up to and including cruise missile technology.

Given the range of these rockets only allow them to hit certain areas - not much significant damage capacity.

I get your point and in part agree with you in a non-technical sort of way!!!
IMO the launching of these rockets/missiles is going to do more harm to
Lebanon than Israel: Israel isn't going to set off home made weapons!
The IDF might not even enter Lebanon - they might just level it. That would
    be a tragedy to everyone.

True in part. Israel sees the nuclear deal as a disaster. And it is
as it enables Iran to go fully nuclear in the near future.
With Iran nuclear this means Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia
go nuclear. And that's more or less the end of the non-proliferation
treaty. The whole world can go nuclear - and if you can't make
your own nukes then there will be an open market for them. And
    that's chilling.

Honestly I'm not 100% convinced the opposition to the "nuclear deal" is so much about the nuclear deal, as it is about large numbers of Hezbollah troops in Syria. Clearly a problem for Israel, I have no issues with Israel, they will and need to do what they have to ito security purposes. At the same time I do not want to see Isis return to Syria which is imo what will happen if Hezbollah withdrew.

Re my comment on Netanyahu/Iran deal I'm merely pointing out that Netanyahu drew first blood... however will concede the large numbers of Hezbollah troops in Syria likely caused him to do so.... as always the topic a contradiction with multiple shades of grey.

Dude. Israel is engaged in the war in Syria out of their own free will.
And subsequently Israel can and may be attacked for it as well.
It's can not be that only one side may attack.

This is Lebanon we are talking about.
I am sure if Israel wanted to defeat Syria it would have done
so in 1948 or in 1967 when its tanks approached Damascus.
Israel doesn't want to occupy Syria, but holds onto the southern
end of the Golan Heights as this proved the fortress and lookout
of the Syrians against Israel prior to '67.

I see large numbers of Hezbollah IN LEBANON as the real issue.

Hezbollah is in Syria. And Israel can not defeat Syria, because Russia will not let that happen.

Agreed. I was talking about "back then" but even in the Six Day War
when it approached Damascus, Russia might not have allowed it to
    go any further.

I am not up on where they launch most of these rockets from so tough to comment on Lebanon. I do know that Lebanon has a large number of Christians and other groups - is not just Muslim.

Since the installation of the S-300 system Israel seems to have stopped its bombing runs.

Last time I checked, the Jews were in a fit that Russia responded to that by sending over their S-300 anti aircraft system, and radar jammers.

Then you missed the part where the Russians didn't turn them on, and did nothing after Israel killed them some Iranians and Hezbollah.
