On November 29th, Gallup headlined “Democrats Lead Surge in Belief U.S. Should Be World Leader” and reported that “Three-fourths (75%) of Americans today think the United States has ‘a special responsibility to be the leading nation in world affairs,’ up from 66% in 2010. The surge is driven by Democrats, whose belief in this idea has increased from 61% eight years ago to 81% now. This finding comes even after the lie-based and catastrophic U.S. invasions of Iraq in 2003, and of Libya in 2011 (and of so many others, such as Afghanistan, where the U.S. and Sauds created the Taliban in 1979). Americans — now even increasingly — want ‘their’ (which is actually America's billionaires’) Government to be virtually the world’s government, policing the world. They want this nation’s Government to be determining what international laws will be enforced around the world, and to be enforcing them. Most Americans don’t want the United Nations to have power over the U.S. (its billionaires’) Government, but instead want the U.S. Government (its billionaires) to have power over the United Nations (which didn’t authorize any of those evil, lie-based, U.S. invasions).
Whatever a deceitfully war-mongering country like this might be, it’s certainly no democracy. Because democracy cannot be built upon a ceaseless string of lies.

Theres also a lot of us that think the US should have nothing whatsoever to do with the UN.

Depending how these polls were worded, I suspect the results were skewed by this third group, as that probably wasn't an option.

True evil? What does that even mean?

There are many other evil entities in this world. The deeds of Washington DC and Tel Aviv are far more evil than the actions of the UN.

I believe that the US is one of the finest democracies, not quite Swiss like, which for me tops the charts.
If it wasn't, Trump would not have been elected.

The problem is that democracy scales horrible, it is most effective on a small pop. Like a town community and the mayor.

Decentralizing power for a big territory and population is a must for effective democracy.

Exactly why the US was never a democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

There is no such thing as a fair and free democratic process without a fair and free media and an educated populace (educated civics and basic philosophy).

    We have neither.

While true, most nowadays democracies are constitutional. I don't know any that are not.

The saying goes that America is exporting democracy not republics, lol.

I agree on the first statement, v true, but I refrain on agreeing on the latter because I m not American, and it feels like an exaggeration.

It is not an exaggeration ... where are you from ? and 2) Were you taught what a logical fallacy was - how to construct a valid argument - what the powers of Gov't are limited to ?

Whoa! The United States isn't a democracy and never has been. Switzerland
isn't a democracy either. It's a representative republic as is the US. Parliament
(congress) is elected and parliament makes law.

One good law passed by their parliament is every Swiss family is issued a handgun.

    1) I am european, and I say it because I have different ethnicity parens: croat of German descent and romanian, but I have lived in France a couple of years at youth age and 1 year in turkey. I am not old and wise. Nowadays I live in Bali, Indonezia for a month per year and the rest in Serbia and Romania. I am not going deep in how my parents met or how they fleed hidden in trains.

    2) I studied civics in high school as it was mandatory(2 years).
I didn't construct an argument, I was agreeing and partially agreeing with you.

I admit, what I post is mostly gibberish during cigar brakes and I mosty share opinions not facts:)

Interesting - (and I did not claim that you did not make an argument). My wife is Serbian by ethnicity but grew up in Romania - coming here when she was 16. Speaks all 3 languages fluently. I know many Romanians who escaped during Ceausescu :)

Anyways - this is no longer the case in the US. 12 years of school and they manage not to teach the basics of Philosophy (logic, logical fallacy, what constitutes a valid argument) and basic civics - the founding principles, legitimacy of authority and so on.

I find it wierd that in the US you don't study these things. Like wtf:)

Besides civics, logics and philosophy are mandatory(different classes) in schools in most countries across the pond.

    I can remember:

    Tom is taller than Jim.
    Bill is taller than Jim.
    Is Tom taller than Bill?

    Great times:)

???? We are both. They are not contradictory terms. We are not a PURE democracy where all decisions are put to a vote.

With the electoral college and the SENATE, small under populated states now control the U.S. government and were responsible for electing Dirty Donald. The 9 states with the highest number of citizens have 51.19% of the nations people with the next 9 in population having 21.58%.Collectively these 18 states have 72.77% of all our nations people yet they are not fairly represent ted in our government.their 18 states have only 36 senate seats and votes while the remaining 32 under populated states hold 64 senate seats and votes, giving them the power to run the nation, making us far from being democratic. We are a nation where the tail wags the dog.

We, The United States and specifically our federal system is just a group of disparate groups. Up thread zer0lis said it well: "democracy scales horrible." Think in terms of intersecting circles, the circles are our constituent states and the intersections are our shared values or shared beliefs. Some states share very little in common with others. If these outlier groups are small then democracy is just a form of tyranny for them. The larger and more intersecting circles will dominate. At this point, without a voice, why would these states remain in the Union of Intersecting Circles? Answer, they won't and without a guaranteed voice would never have joind the Union in the first place.

    Here's an example:

Let's call K-1 middle America, K-2 the North East corridor, and K-3 the Pacific Coast. It would be nice to have an illustration with about 9 circles. Im thinking of the book The Nine Nations of North America. We are not one, we are many, and each deserves a voice.

    Cheers
    Labour

The credibility of the media hit the fan long long ago, when the media decided it was the spot to advise the nation who to vote for and why.
