Personally.... I really do want Alberta to stay within Canada but I am Libertarian and want the residents of Alberta free to discuss this option to their hearts content.

Why leaving Canada makes sense for Alberta, and U.S. would likely welcome a new state

Ever since the major players in Canada organized to defeat the provincial currency unit initiated by Premier Bill Aberhart's government during the Great Depression.... I have to admit that the province of Alberta has gotten a really lousy deal from the rest of Canada.

I do hope that they will stay with us.......
but freedom of speech obviously allows for discussion of this option that they do indeed have in front of them.

OOPs....... "I am American and I would NOT want to trade California for America." That should have read "I am American and I would NOT want to trade California for Alberta."

So if you read this before answering the poll you can factor that fact into the equation.

In my opinion the Alberta based series on Netflix called "Heartland" could in theory play a significant role in:

Could a real estate boom plus better Fed policy pay off USA national debt?

Warning... this series can be addictive:

America's largest state economy is California, which produced $2.75 trillion of economic output in 2017, more than the United Kingdom's GDP last year of $2.62 trillion. Even Texas was slightly higher than All of Canada GDP last year of $1.65 trillion. I say we keep it.

Pretty sure Mexico already has first dibs on California since they invaded the state and have been in occupation for more than a few decades now.

As far as President Trump would be concerned though we Canadians eclipsed any dibs on California by our going into WWI and WWII first. Our closer ties to Britain made that rather necessary for us. Mexico simply could not assist the USA much with:

Canadians and Americans, are WE the Beast of Rev and....

But could the huge earthquake be political.....????

Could it be related to Canada and America coming up with a plan that keeps the USA petro -dollar safe from the Soros, Iran, China, Europe, Russia move against her? Could our doing something like that delay and delay that potential political earthquake that might split America????

True.... but what Mr. Jim Rickards explains in this video seems to call for a rather audacious response to keep the USA dollar strong and stable!

    FORGET IRAN, IRAQ, UKRAINE
    THIS IS WHERE WWIII STARTS...

I am thinking in terms of linking money........
to a full fledged Unified Field Theory of Modern World Problems......

Is a Unified Theory of Modern World Problems even possible?

California is indeed in an interesting position to do something with:

Artistic Hollywood style "Armageddon" could bring world out of recession?!

    Dennis, are you serious?
Actually, you might be right. I guess many Americans want to get rid of the "liberal paradise" Commiefornia. So I guess the answer is "yes" to that one. The question is: are Canadians that stupid to want to take it?
Not to mention that it will soon sink into the ocean and will be lost for good.

No, but we would be willing to look into taking Alberta in as a state.

Would Americans be willing to trade California for Alberta?
No. But why the question in the first place? If Quebec eventually secedes from Canada, would some of the remaining provinces of Canada want to join the U.S. as a new state? There would be pros & cons. Perhaps the worst sacrifice for Canadians would be losing their national healthcare system, which I think is superior to anything the U.S. has to offer. If some of the conservative southern or midwestern states seceded from the U.S., would California, Oregon, Washington or other NE states want to become new provinces in Canada? I would seriously consider supporting that if I lived in one of those states, to get a national healthcare system if for no other reason. I'm a U.S. citizen, but I've been to Canada several times, and love the Country & its people & aspects of its culture & society even more than my own. I'm not particularly fond of the intense winter cold there, but love the scenic beauty--especially in Alberta & BC. I am deeply grateful for the intense, long lasting friendship between our two countries. I'm embarrassed by the way Trump has treated Canada. I'm embarrassed by the fact that my own people were stupid enough to elect Trump at all.

If you do get Alberta..... you might just acquire more than merely one Canadian province?

    You definitely have me interested.........

I will have to pass this on to Mr. Maxime Bernier the National Leader of the People's Party of Canada that I joined recently after leaving Canada's Conservative Party.

Hey..... I just noticed that I am actually leading in this poll.......
and I have to admit that those who voted for me were technically correct.....
because in a business deal President Donald J. Trump would have a ball if he got to
deal with me across the table!

Mr. Maxime Bernier began a new branch of Canada's Conservative Party....
(It is also worth noting that I personally voted for Mr. Maxime Bernier as you can see from the asterix)!

I wonder what he will think of my Alternative Wall Theory???

What do you think of my Alternative Wall Theory?

Thank you for saying nice things about my nation Canada.

I could be wrong..... I often am but......
I am convinced that President Donald J. Trump....... (in spite of all his many, many, many flaws),
is.....( like me ).... very LIBERTARIAN!

    Is President Trump quite "Libertarian?"

I also think that President Donald J. Trump wishes to go down as President #3 to tackle flaws in USA central banking policy / Federal Reserve Policy along with Lincoln and J.F.K.

Did going bankrupt in '91 prepare Mr. Trump for the Presidency?

Since California is a net payer of taxes I say I want to keep it. I would be willing to trade off Mississippi and Alabama for Alberta and a province of Canada's choice.

Add to that Alberta doesn't have a single beach, and I think the answer's obvious...

Good point but it is warming up really fast......
(I assume partly due to the methane that is being released from the Arctic perma-frost).....
Methane has insulation value about seventy one times greater than that of carbon dioxide)!

I am of the belief that P. M. Benjamin Netanyahu and a high percentage of Israelis tend to be interested in this subject that is actually of significant relevance to them considering some of their recent technological developments.

    P. M. Netanyahu, President Trump has a 4.3 trillion dollar problem....

I do notice that many, if not most, of Trump supporters like him because they feel he's strong in the economic area. I disagree, but understand their thinking. My concern about Trump lies more in all the OTHER areas Presidents have to deal with. In those, I don't see Trump as competent. And, so far, his behaviors & his decisions appear to support my conclusions.

I'd trade alberta for california in a nanosecond. I'll take the 5thlargest economy in the world and 12% of the US economy for Alberta who's economy is a mere $330 billion. Canada would benefit enormously from a doubling of its population and GDP.

Not to mention giving Canada and Canadian snowbirds a sunny place in Canada to vacation.

Course the US would replace two democratic senators with two republican senators, but congress would be down by roughly 45 congressional districts.

It also eliminates one of the biggest objections Canadians would have since Canada would still have 7 Canadian NHL teams.

sounds like yet another example of American allies taking advantage of America, bigly.

    Great OP. Let's do 'er.

A better question, would Canada be willing to join the great American union? No threats, I think we are good enough friends. In return we will bargain an end to the shackle that is Great Britain.

Some pretty serious preparations are being made toward Alberta getting prepared to leave Canada:
