    https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/02/politics/harry-reid-trump/index.html

On the same day that a (technically) freshman incoming GOP senator penned an op-ed to say that Trump has failed to rise to the mantle of the Presidency, a retired Democratic senator at the end of his life called Trump amoral and the worst President in US history.

We've had some very bad presidents (I mean, Buchanan's ineptitude nearly resulted in the country being torn apart), but I don't think it's particularly close. We're actually lucky he arrived during a period of relative peace and prosperity, which so far has somewhat limited the overall damage.

Never has the Presidency been so assailed and never before has the US made so little progress. I suppose for the resistance, that is a great victory. But for those who hoped for revolution and change, it is a crushing defeat. The political system has succeeded in restoring its philosophical grip on the country and so Trump will be a blip in US History, and mainstream politics will rule over us for the rest of our foreseeable lifespans.

Can you imagine if that bozo would have inherited the US economy in 2008 and started applying his brain fart tactics to dealing with the challenges? He would have bankrupted the US like he has so many of his other companies and then tried to flee the country in his jet with a planeload of cash like a tinpot dictator.

Has it occurred to you that the resistance is because trump is monumentally unfit to lead our nation? His character, above all, makes him unfit to fulfil his role as the leader of the country.
Your pessimism is misdirected. Our country is designed to work well if our people are well prepared and working together.
Trump is content to tear it apart to protect and promote himself.
You people should have thought about your so-called revolution a little harder.

That's your perception of it. My perception is that this Congress, this establishment has proven that far from a government of the people, it is a government for and by themselves.

Actions speak louder than words. For the left, words = action. For everyone else, action = action.

This meme makes absolutely no ****ing sense.

    1) Trump has like a 90% approval rating amongst the GOP. So "both parties hating him" is utter horse ****.
    2) "Both parties" would constitute anywhere from 50%-80% of the American population. And when a majority of Americans hate someone, it is probably safe to say that America hates you.

I am rapidly approaching the point where anytime I see someone say that they hate the "establishment," it means that they hate America. By and large, they are using the "establishment" as a substitute for institutions which are pillars of America.

Reid expresses the obvious. It is interesting that many Western state pols openly oppose Trump: Flake, McCain [rip], Romney. These are the true Republicans that will take back the GOP from Trump & his fools.

Not only is the US not making any progress, but Trump's decision to bully and betray our traditional allies, and his idiotic plays as retreating from being a world leader will set us back at least a decade, presuming that we can rebuild the lost trust between ourselves and our traditional allies. After the disaster that was George W Bush, and now Trump, that is going to be that much harder.

The press that Trump gets has nothing to do with this, as the world does not watch CNN or Fox.

I suppose it is a crusing defeat for folks who hoped for "revolution". But these imaginary revolutionaries have never actually stood for any coherent program other than pesecuting minoriries, foreigners, and isolating themselves from any world that doesn't look and thing just like them, and none of them are actually interested in real politics enough to revolt, then there was never much hope of a "revolution". Besides, picking a clown whose only real success was a few good years hosting a reality show, they didn't pick much of a man to lead their revolution either.

Trump won't be a blip on history, no matter how much many hope he will be.

He represents the first time in US history, that the nation gave into its worst nativist, racist and intolerant dark underbelly,

The results on the world stage have been nothing less than a total betrayal of the Declaration of Independence and the world order that Roosevelt and Churchill crafted, which guiding our foreign policy and prevented major war between major powers for 75 years.

Attacking harry reid on morality while defending the guy who literally bragged about grabbing ******* without waiting for permission. And spent your taxpayer dollars at his privately owned resorts? And directed foreign dignitaries to stay at his privately owned hotels? And altered the tax laws and trade policies to personally benefit himself and his children?

    Solid.
