Polling on this issue is looking good for Trump which explains why the media is staying so silent on polls lately.

Illegal immigration is a legitimate (and expensive) problem. A fence/wall/barrier is common sense. Improving border security is common sense.

It is now estimated that the government shutdown will cost more than the amount Trump is asking for for border security. How can Democrats even look at their constituents and try to justify that? There is no way to spin "we spent more than $5.7 billion to avoid giving Trump $5.7 billion". Only the most vengeful of the Democratic base will go along with that kind of vindictiveness.

It is idiotic pettiness to continue refusing Trump's funding.

 

Trump is in Washington while the uniparty left town. If it were serious, and specifically serious with the Democrats, they would stay in town and hammer out a deal.

The Longer the shutdown continues, the more it becomes obvious that WE DON'T NEED these non-essential employees.

 

That pretty much says it all.

 

Democrats don't want a deal and as that becomes blatantly obvious to more people Trump will garner more support. Dems are going to lose this one big time and the "resistance" movement will be weakened as border security is strengthened.

 

Trump Has the Democrats Cornered

Having regained one house of Congress, the Democrats immediately boxed themselves into a losing position.

 

Pelosi had a whiff of grandiose and she quickly fell for Trump's question.

 

Trump tweeted that the democrats don't think DACA is worth it as a bargaining point. It appears they are so intransigent that they are abandoning their own principles.

 

And they are doing it while the nation watches.

 

There's a shutdown? I didn't even notice. Oh right, hardly anyone has noticed, and Democrats are going to lose big on this issue...

Perhaps you are confused? OP is about polling on the issue of the wall not on trump who's numbers remain stable.

Those two images alone prove you are incorrect

As for his numbers remaining stable, uninformed people remain uninformed.
He has the moron vote locked down tight.
No one expects it to change.

 

Most departments had auxiliary budgets which are running out soon.
This is the first paycheck for many that will be missed.
Followed by food stamps.

Amid cheers by the cons — I don’t see it gaining any votes that were not solidly red already.

 

Support for a wall grows amid the shutdown

The Washington Post reported, "Americans blame Trump and GOP much more than Democrats for shutdown, Post-ABC poll finds."

CNN reported, "CNN Poll: Trump bears most blame for shutdown."

Two polls, same results, same mistake.

While the media fascinated itself with the blame game, their polls showed an uptick in support for the wall, as well as a belief by an overwhelming majority that immigration is a serious problem.

"As noted, while more still oppose rather than back a wall, support has increased to 42 percent, up from 34 percent a year ago and a previous high of 37 percent in 2017. Opposition, 54 percent, is down from 63 percent a year ago and a previous low of 60 percent two years ago," the ABC/Washington Post poll said.

The poll showed 24% of Americans think the border is a crisis, while 47% say it is a serious problem that falls short of a crisis. That's 71%.

Only 26% accept the Democrat position that the border is not a serious problem.

Buried in the ABC/Post poll was this: Only 17% of those polled were inconvenienced by the shutdown.

For five out of six Americans, the shutdown is something alien that does not affect them.

But the poll also showed 45% of those who oppose the wall want Democrats to compromise.

Only 39% of those who support the wall want to compromise.

Democrats may wish to walk back their opposition to extending the wall because their supporters are more likely to be inconvenienced by this.

 

You still can't seem to separate support for trump and support for the wall which is growing.

 

Go right on believing that.

Democrats are not worried about their constituents.

Trump blew this battle on December 11th.

 

Yet completely pretending like a bill with the 5 billion never got passed in Congress.

Yeah I would deflect too.

 

According to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS between Jan. 10 and 11, 55 percent of Americans blame Trump for the shutdown, while 32 percent blame congressional Democrats and nine percent blame both. (Three percent blamed neither and one percent had no opinion.) The poll has a margin of error of 4.1 percentage points, CNN said.

And according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll conducted between Jan. 8 and 11, 53 percent of Americans blame Trump and congressional Republicans for the shutdown, compared to 29 percent who blame congressional Democrats and 13 percent who blame both. (Two percent blamed neither and four percent had no opinion.) The poll had a margin of error of 4.5 percentage points, the Post reported.

Both polls found that a majority of Americans oppose Trump’s desired wall, as well: 54 percent opposed it in the Post’s poll and 56 opposed it in CNN’s poll.

Only a republican can turn this into a winner.

 

What your polls don't show is movement in numbers which is decidedly in a pro wall direction. Trump has momentum on his side while democrats are losing ground on the issue. The longer this goes on the better for trump and at some point the handwriting will be on the wall for Chuck and Nancy. No pun intended.

 

Latest poling show strong indication that Trump's base support is cracking. The states most affected by Trump's shutdown (remember, he proclaimed it loud and clear it is all his, nobody else's) are red states. Seems like poetic justice.
