Why would Christians want LGBTQ people removed from an anti lynching bill?

    To be fair. They have no problem with the anti lynching bill its self. They simply want to make sure that LGBTQ people are excluded from its protections.


    Can anyone give me a civilized reason why this might be the case? I mean this isnt even biblical.

    After all, arent you supposed to stone gays to death anyways instead of lynching them?

    Incorrect. They don't believe the bill should list groups. They believe lynching should be a felony, regardless of the reason for the lynching.

    Have you not heard Trump 'joking' that Pence would like to hang all gays? That is your fundamentalist Christian Right...and the ones Chris Hedges talks about tend to have Liberty in their name. ;)

    but do you in the States support lynching anyway?

    Seems like another bit of double speak by NBC to confuse the public - that is unless in their minds gays are separate species and not covered by the bill, therefore they have to be specified. Looks like things are getting ridiculouser and ridiculouser.

    Long story short, these groups are the ones that give most christians a bad name. They wear the cross on their sleeve and keep the bible on the shelf, ignoring most of the messages in the book.

    The law explicitly lists several groups who have been subject to these kinds of things before, including LGBTQ.

    As crawdad says, this is just an attempt for them to drum up their base.

    Not sure why we even need this bill. Is it not already illegal to lynch someone? If it is not already illegal then yes we most definitely need this bill. But I think murder is already illegal in all 50 states.

    How would an anti-lynching bill not protect LGBT? Does the anti-lynching bill protect everyone? If not, its a bad bill.

    Here is a thought. I know of no Christian that wants to lynch anyone. If they do they are not a Christian

    Doesn't a "properly executed" lynching end in the death of the victim? If so, then no additional law is necessary. Find 'em, lock 'em up, and put them away for life w/o parole or the death penalty. This whole idea seems redundant.

    I think there is some other reason for this. If you look at your link it would be obvious that they would be included in this. Seems they believe this is an excuse to give these people some status which can be used to protect them in the future on other things.

    It is time for American Christians to notice what is happening and to speak up against what is being said/done in their name or at the very least stop voting for them.

    who was it who tried to get the death penalty for being gay in Uganda? The neo con's and the Christian Right

    Who is it who got Bolsonaro elected in Brazil, The Christian Right

    Who will be President of the United States if Trump is impeached, Mike Pence.

    Hedges believes that if the Christian Right do get their fascist Government, the first people they will come for is Christian anti extremists such as himself.
