Why do you keep voting for politicians that take the money?

I vote for politicians that will champion my positions on policy.

Now let's get back on the topic of keeping corporate money out of politics. Only the DEMs are bringing this issue up. Why do you keep deflecting?

So tell the politicians they can't be bought by companies and put the ones who engage in it in prison. Can't trust the politicians? I don't either. So make it illegal for anybody to give money to a politician for any reason other than to make change at the counter.

Why harp on what we already know?

During Carter they passed a law that allowed groups to pool money and donate to campaigns but set limits on it, this was stage 1. Then republican politicians wrung their hands drooling waiting for a republican president so they could take the limits off. So reagan/bush became stage 2. For the the past few decades it was mostly the republicans working against us with army of supporters happy to help undermine America because money wins elections and they think politics is like football and the republican party is their team not just a branch of the corporations that were sending all the jobs over seas, creating the wadge gap... basically everything wrong with American politics/corporations today. Wile this was happening the Democrats tried in vain to pass campaign finance reform but any action to put the American government back in the hands of America met a ton of opposition backed by corporate money.

Fast forward to today. The Democrats were put in a situation where if they didn't take corporate money they wouldn't have a chance of winning elections so now our government is no longer our government.

She is simply pointing out something that needs to be addressed. What in the heck is wrong with that?

Asking questions about what we already know is a waste of time. Instead, she should ask questions about what they're going to do about the problem.

They were there to answer questions. AOC asked them questions. Again, what's wrong with that? Your fake outrage is transparent.

Just going to take away individual's right to free speech in one sweeping act huh? Calm down long enough to separate individuals from corporations.

Yes they should be laws against corps financing elections, but the same goes for Unions also. Only private citizens should be able to contribute.

O ya, the individual rights to buy politicians that would be thrown away the other poster was talking about. Upstanding individuals such as JPMorgan, Wells Fargo and Spectrum cable.

I'm judgmental, not outraged. She's a lightweight, grandstanding BSer. I had to deal with the "feet in the clouds" types when we were trying to oust an extreme rightwing Trumpian-like school board. Instead of being prepared to find common cause with people in the community, they wanted to lecture them on what to think.

I thought I'd read you had something to do with education. I must have been mistaken.

Unions all too often fight for their own benefit and not so much for the membership now a days. Back in the 80's the IBEW threw us under the bus just to give union officers a raise and gave the right to select shop stewards to the president where previously we voted for them.

AOC wasn't telling people how to think. She was pointing out a broken system. I just don't understand how anyone other than a partisan would find anything about this bad.

We have more to fear from government than business. And she wants to expand government to dangerous levels. We don't want cradle-to-grave care with reduced freedoms.

I don't need government to wipe my butt.
