I know less of Judaism than I do Christianity or Islam but most of the old testament stuff WAS relevant to the chosen people, the jews, living in the chosen land. Then God punished them, allowing them to be expelled from Israel and commanded them to instead become good citizens of the nations they go to.

I think removing the OT from all bibles would be a good start - most of the bad stuff like right to own slaves, anti-gay nonsense, killing, ect.. comes from the OT

still the same God though, may be best just to invent a new religion from scratch

The Muslims claim lots of things.
The Muslims are the third one in line, and they claim it is the same, he just changed his mind.
Now he wants all the Jews dead.

The Jews do not pray to a god who wants to kill them.
    Neither do the Christians.

Out of Christianity came the Enlightenment.
Muslims want to live in Christian countries.
I am aware of the claims made about the
Muslims in Spain - but there has been some
good scholarship to show a lot of this rule
was brutal and destructive. The claim that
Islam alone kept the literature of the West
    alive has also been challenged.
    Just Google the topic.

    And Christianity "infinitely worse" Really?
My wife came back from Egypt recently.
She was shocked at the way Muslim men
treated her (not Orthodox men mind you)
    - they saw her as a loose moral Westerner
and constantly propositioned her in public.
When she rebuffed them they called her
a whore and worse. She would reply,
    "Look who's speaking."
Same if you went to places like Jordan.
Same in the Muslim ghettos of Europe.

Roman Catholicism is a complete repudiation of the tenants of
Christianity. The Catholics seized the mantle of Rome. Wealth,
power, pomp, paganism, terror, war and rule over the monarchs.
This is one reason why Catholics generally don't read bibles,
and the reason why the Catholic Church sought to keep common
language bibles away from the people.

Islamic people who go around invading countries and chopping
heads of infidels, by way of comparison, are not repudiating their
    texts, but obeying them.

Interesting to see that this thread is flicked to Western Europe, but several other threads, the subject of which
is not in the USA, still remain in the USA forum. Perhaps its becoming naughty to criticize islam on this forum...hence the reason for this thread being flicked.....

Them numbers of 1919 has nothing to do wint 2019. What the trend currently is what matters. And people have been slaughtering themselves in the US.

The numbers certainly do matter because, as history demonstrates, wars in Europe have killed more people than wars in North America. When one side is armed and the other isn't it makes rather easy pickings. The writers of the Constitution learned this but most Europeans, despite the evidence, haven't. has there ever been a time when there hasn't been an ongoing war somewhere in Europe?

lol... the only way you can make the US look good at the moment, is comparing it of Europe WWI + WWII.
We both know Europe aint no war zone anymore. Hence the US is just where people get shot all the time.
Pretty high on the world ranking as well.

Interesting how someone on this side of the Atlantic knows more about European history, past and present, than many Europeans do. Are you aware that until 1989 East and West Europe were divided but, thanks to the Americans, that's all nostalgia now.

This will bring you up to date on the killings going on in Europe, and they haven't even included Islamist terrorism.

As do Christians? For my sins . . . no, wrong metaphor because I don't sin . . . owing to some strange perversity I habitually listen to the BBC radio prog 'Sunday Worship', and I've lost count of the times I've heard 'And Jesus said' stories which don't appear anywhere in the Good Book. I'm sure they make 'em up as they go along, to while away the time unto the Collection plate being passed around?

Just came back from watching Peter Jackson's documentary They Shall Not Grow Old.
It left me shaken - and I watch some war thing on Youtube nearly every day.
People hate the idea of empire and religion, but under the Roman Empire and the
rule of Roman Catholicism in Europe things were relatively peaceful.

I'd like to know as much as you about this period and have only touched the surface. That's interesting to know and I'll investigate further, thanks.

Yeah, its quite interesting how the "church" took over the administrative reins as it were following the collapse of centralised authority - being that Latin was the common language and the church had a structure (much like the cursus honorum) which touched all levels and stratas of society. Have you read about Clovis? Interesting fella...

He is considered by many as the first french king. Louis which was the most common name for a french king come from Clovis.
    CLOVIS => LOVIS => LOUIS
Which give in germanic language => Ludwige, Lois, Lewis.
