Makes one wonder, given Trump's overt disdain for a free press, and labeling anything remotely critical of his Administration as "fake" and "dishonest," could we be looking at a similar process somewhere down the road in America?

 

You should probably be worried about the "free press" (owned by billionaires) attacking the alternative media. They proudly bear signs that state "Democracy Dies in Darkness" while actively attempting to shutdown voices with a different narrative (that have audiences that rival or surpass their own). Most Americans don't want billionaires or politicians curating their speech. Let the marketplace of ideas decide. The attacks by the left on that marketplace demonstrate a decided lack of confidence in their own ideas.

 

Who, or where, did any vehicle in the free press even attempt to "shutdown voices with a different narrative?" Please cite examples

Surely you have heard of data and society. The mainstream media couldn't get enough of this "report". They are actively lobbying to get prominent conservative youtubers deplatformed. Do a google search on the "alternative influence network" and you will see the mainstream ganging up to silence conservative/libertarian outlets. This is not a secret, this has been going on for awhile now.

It constantly amazes me that the left no longer supports freedom of the press or free speech. Thank you for admitting this openly. If your side does win in allowing authoritarian censorship via billionaires/politicians, I hope you are self aware enough to realize that they will eventually come for people who express views that you agree with. That is what history demonstrates over and over again.

 

LOL, they listed Tim Pool in there. Tim Pool is a moderate liberal who reported on the Maga Kids debacle. His outlet got every detail of that incident correct DAYS before the mainstream media corrected their narrative. This is a single youtuber who reported factually true information days BEFORE the mainstream media (with its millions of dollars in resources) corrected theirs. In fact, it was the alt media calling the mainstream media on their lies that forced the retractions (although it did not stop the hate mobbing of some innocent kids). This is the guy that Media and Society smeared with a label in that report. Has it ever crossed your mind that the mainstream media is not 100% honest? That they may have their own agenda? That perhaps they see the alternative media and it swelling audience as a FINANCIAL threat to their business model? Why don't you visit each of the sites listed in the report and tell me how accurate the smear was.

From my perspective, they were nothing more than smears aimed at shutting down a popular and growing competitor. A competitor whose narrative is controlled by thousands of ordinary people expressing their own opinion and not parroting the narrative of powerful oligarchical masters. Keep in mind, good progressive outlets like Secular Talk and Jimmy Dore are just as much at risk as the other ones. Any channel that points out that we live in a oligarchy with a curated press is at risk. Any channel that provides political content that contends with the mainstream media is also at risk. My advice to the mainstream media is to do MUCH better. They were not nearly this bad a few decades ago.

 

Oh well.

There is little doubt anymore that the majority of liberal media are not free press but the enemy of the people with an agenda, not to report news but to see conservatism fail.

There is no doubt anymore that the all of the conservative fake alt right media are engaged in using their press as an enemy of the people with an agenda, not to report news but to see patriotic Americanism fail.

Libel, slander, and sedition laws need to be stepped up against the alt right media.

While the Russian government announces that it will conduct this exercise (I think it's a good idea), in this country some corporation will do that sooner or later, a potential demonstration of the fascist relationship in this country.
