WTF are you talking about? You are paid back in proportion to what you paid into the program. If you want to make a case that people who make more than the cap, I am fine with that. In that case, some very wealthy would draw SS at $100,000/month+. Would that make you happy or you just one of those that is unhappy with the fact someone else was more successful than you?

Wrong. But thanks for trying. Everyone knows Republicans want to toss poor people out on their ass to fend for themselves regardless of situation. Republicans dont care of their policies kill the poor. I bet some in fact even cheer it on.

Most likely more conservatives have worked the 40 quarters and want to get their money out.

That's justice. You pay in money for at least ten years, you get money out.

It's not like sickening welfare where you do nothing for the country, and yet get benefits.

How does the law discriminate against the 90%? at any point, anyone in that <90% can become a part of the 10%, can they not? Also, why do you suppose that folks are cheating here? They clearly are following the law. At some point, you have to wonder why folks like you are so envious when most of the folks you're whining about pay 70% of the income that folks on SS live on.....

It is comments like this that reinforce my belief that Reagan was wrong when he changed the rules for dealing with mental patients.

Taxing all income is rather outlandish, as the wealthy are not likely to use the SS benefits. I’m sure there is some balance for raising the cap to give SS more breathing room.

Though I agree the tax system should be re-evaluated, taxes aren’t guaranteed to fix our exonomic woes of stagnated wages and high cost of living. Unless your taxes incentivize employers to invest more in pay for employees.

No, lift the cap completely and make millionaires and billionaires pay the same percentage of their income as those below the $132,900 present cutoff. Why should they pay a miniscule percentage their earnings compared to those making vastly less.

Straight up, democrats aren't interested in having to compete with their Lofty Lordly positions and do everything they can to de-incentivize productive wealth growth. It is the ultimate expression of NIMBY...

The Democrats created social security, the withholding rates and the caps.
How do you not know this?

FDR and the Democrats created Social Security but EVERY ADMINISTRATION whether Returdlicker or Democrat since has had the oppurtunityand has made changes to it but all thus far have maintained a ceiling cap amount for salary deductions. In the early days when even the relatively wealthy had much smaller salary disparity from average workers it was not as big a deal, but today with the gigantic disparity in incomes it is a very big UNFAIR DISPARITY and a huge financial advantage for the wealthy .They need to begin paying the same PERCENTAGE of their TOTAL INCOME into S.S. that those below the cutoff have always paid.

    The Democrats created it.
The Democrats did not change it.

I basically agree. However, the other side to that is that they will be getting back more in SS than they did before, as SS payouts are based on SS pay-ins.

Wait... you think that if the wealthy pay more into SS, they should get more out?
    Really?

Well, that happens now. Roughly speaking, if you had an average income of $20k a year, at age 65 you will get $958 a month in payouts. If you had an average income of $100k a year, at age 65, you will get $2448 a month in payouts.
