No. He is politically blameworthy because he forced the world's longest shutdown, was warned about the potential safety implications to air traffic because of that shutdown, and then we learned that Boeing had planned fixes for the plane which crashed - for months - and the implementation of those plans were delayed by Trump's shutdown.

Trump wanted political credit for plane safety. He should not run from political blame for the failure of plane safety - especially when it can be so directly linked to an action that he unnecessarily took.

But that's my argument. What is yours? Do you think that there is no link between this crash and Trump's decision to shut down the government?

    The WORLD's longest shutdown!? hahahah

There was never an air traffic problem in the United States because of the shutdown. The one crash that took place after the shutdown happened in a foreign nation.

The plane that crashed was a foreign airline...not a US plan. It's pretty much that simple

Did Boeing build that plane? Is Boeing a US company? Would Boeing be responsible for rolling out fixes to that "foreign plane?"

And I obviously meant to say the longest shutdown in US history. The OP also provides multiple quotes from air traffic experts who warned of the safety concerns created by the continued shutdown.

They did...when? Who knows...could have been years ago. I don't know, not sure the contract it has with the Ethiopian Airline. The Eithipian Govt as far as I know wasn't shutdown, and neither was the airline...no reason not to fix the plane if there were problems over there. Did the Airline even complain of issues with the plane? Do you even know what caused the crash yet?

I don't doubt that the FAA had concerns with the shutdown...but US air traffic controlers have no say what happens half way around the world in Africa.

Five months passed between the first 737 MAX crash and the second one. The government shutdown was only one month long and ended in January, and the aviation safety inspectors returned to work 10 days before the shutdown was over. Boeing had plenty of time before and since the government shutdown to address this problem. Additionally, both flights/airlines were foreign (the first was Indonesian, and the second was Ethiopian.) The FAA would not have overseen the maintenance nor repair of these two planes, and would not have prevented Boeing from "fixing" them.

FAA folks could cry that the sky was falling all they wanted during the government shutdown (hell, we have Democrats screaming that the sky is falling every day), there is no proof this crash of an Ethiopian 737 was influenced in any possible way by the government shutdown here in America.

This thread is a really, really lame display of Trump derangement syndrome. (It's also a great example of how the media ----and certain very dedicated Trump haters---- will spin things to present a false narrative thru innuendo.)

So you join this UK clowns opinion on this?

Way to go. A problem perhaps due to things done or not done at Boeing or one of it's suppliers and the goat you picked is Trump?

Next you will blame the past extreme cold climate on Trump.

This is part of the resistance. The clowns in this circus will blame Trump for daylight savings time.

YES, they are that desperate. Trump perhaps thought this could happen when he as president actually usurped the role of the FAA. This is just more of what the Democrats call the resistance.

When first told it was Trump that grounded the airplanes, I was in disbelief. This falls under the responsibility of Boeing and FAA and not Trump. And FAA operated during the shutdown.
Particular non safety related parts of FAA were suspended. But this is an active safety issue which was never shut down.

This isn't really about hating on Trump. From my own personal situation, the FAA shutdown has effected me too, but that's beside the point. During and since, the FAA has been like in a state of suspended animation.

The point is that some US pilots were reporting similar problems, and the suspended animation of the federal agency made those reports be ignored by an agency in suspended animation because of the idiot Trump and his bloody wall.

Trump was rash to ground that airplane. Plain and simple. If Democrats have any complaint, it is that Trump grounded those airplanes. FAA has the experts and the expertise to do this and they were not grounding the airplanes.

I no more believe that than I believe NY City is on the Pacific coast of the USA.

FAA remained open during the shutdown for issues like this.

That airplane has been flying far too long for this to be an issue impacting all their aircraft. Boeing and FAA would have grounded the fleet long ago were this more than a glitch. Millions of people have safely flown on that airplane for years.

They are trading on the fact that the public is ignorant of why airplanes fly in the first place.

Only parts of the FAA remained open during the shutdown. What they called "essential personnel" remained working. But that was pretty much a skeleton crew. Compared to normal operations, the agency was in suspended animation, alive, but not functional.

I'm floored... ROTFL, isn't the diametric opposite true (re. leadership); engendering all the ridicule and 'scurrilous ardor' of the establishment (Dem) base... I have no reason to cling to my 'canned laughter' tapes, so long as 'T-Legal' is posting here... :)

Nobody can tell me that an airplane that has certificates of airworthiness, been flying that many years, just up and suddenly all of them went bad.

I know better than that. So do the Democrats. This is simply more of their horsepucky resistance.

No, you’re just reaching, trying to blame Trump for issues related to the Boeing 737Max that have been a issue since before he was elected.

Why do you buy into this crap? I am saying the crap that blames Trump?
If you put 5 seconds thought into this, you know Trump is not involved. He screwed up big time by grounding airplanes. He made it possible for nut cases to blame him and not deal with the actual problem.

Do you think the so called black boxes will confirm it is Trump's fault?

    I do not at all.
