I'm sorry for our friends here from there. It's a tragedy that should never happened anywhere. Sadly we live in a world where a few fanatics are encouraged by their leadership that such acts are justified in the end.
Someday I hope that the leaders of the world stop pandering to these very vocal minorities and universally, without reservation, condemn these activities for what they are whether committed by Muslim extremists, christian extremists or white supremacists. There are no such things as some good people in those groups.

WTF are you talking about? Australia as you point out has stricter gun laws. Australia also has stricter muslim immigration laws. Prejudice against NZ more tolerant policies, or Australia's more authoritarian? Your post makes less than zero sense. Victim blaming? What a load of [insert insult] ...

Unless and until someone invents a time machine, the notion that "X law would/would not have stopped Y event" is intellectually worthless.

Any laws proposed in reaction to an event are aimed at, and justified by, making a future event less likely to occur.
