Ever heard of Lauren Underwood? You can read about her HERE. You'll have to, because she never gets any press - even though she's a part of the same freshman class Occasional Cortex is.

Why isn't Lauren a household name like Occasional Cortex? They have the same amount of seniority. It's because -

1) AOC has been covered by the press in a way Lauren could only dream of.
2) AOC goes out there and seeks attention in a way Lauren likely would never think of.
3) AOC says stuff that's patently absurd that Lauren - well, we don't know, maybe Lauren believes the exact same things AOC does but she doesn't say it out loud.
4) AOC has been declared by the press - whether anyone likes it or not - the Kingslayer of Congress because she took out a senior Dem in Congress.

I mean, it isn't the right that's made her out to be this boss-level congresschick - it's the press. It's the left. You're right, she's just this low-level prog. But she's getting press far beyond her station and it's because she keeps speaking out in ways Underwood doesn't, she's bucking the system in ways Underwood isn't, she's seeking attention in ways Underwood isn't, and she's tweeting in ways Underwood isn't. I've mentioned that ridiculous article where people were gushing over AOC's love for press-on nails before - it isn't the right pushing her into the spotlight. It's her. It's the press that loves her. And when you seek that kind of press, it's only natural people on the right are ALSO gonna discuss her - especially when she says patently idiotic things. The right isn't discussing Underwood because the press, the left, and Underwood herself didn't set Lauren up as some kind of titan, as some kind of spokeslady for what the left represents. For all we know, Underwood's beliefs are even more out there than Occasional Cortex' - but IF they are, she's smart enough not to draw attention to it.

What you call an obsession, we see as discussing someone who keeps insisting on inserting herself into the news cycle. And this IS Current Events; so long as she keeps making the news, we're gonna keep discussing her. I'm also at a loss as to why you see it as fear when - as I've noted elsewhere - you've got everyone here on the right happy to keep her talking. I've seen the left say the same thing about Trump, they're happy for him to keep tweeting because he says some pretty indefensible things when he gets on a Twitter rant which makes him and by extension the GOP look bad. Sauce for the goose - sauce for the gander.

No one on the right here sounds fearful of her at all, and the fact that her numbers are dropping indicates that the more she speaks, the less people like her and the ideas she represents. When you hear posters say she's the gift that keeps on giving for the right, that's what they mean - and it's hard to counter that argument. She really IS helping the right every time she says something stupid.

Competition to fix a broken leg? Competition to treat a cancer patient? Competition to treat heart disease? I agree stupid rules and regulations don't contribute to progress, but the majority of those rules and regulations are anything but stupid and are responsible for saving millions of lives. You smart enough to know which ones are which?

Well after 30 pages.....we now know the only thing AOC cut. Was some hot air that rippled her skirt. She doesn't know anything about Reagan other than what her Socialist Handlers told her and knows she wasn't even born when Reagan was around.

Still another clue that AOC isn't very bright. Ronald Reagan is one of the most beloved of recent presidents among average Americans. Trying to make points on him is only going to cause her approval rating to drop further. Even Obama recognized that Reagan was a great leader and gave him words of praise. AOC's historical revisionism won't go over well.

 

The current president proves that you don't need to be smart to succeed in modern American politics.
