So you haven't read it? Don't be scared, it's just five pages. Took me 15 minutes and I am dyslexic.

Or you did read it and know that it's garbage.

I heard it on Steven Crowder, he read the bill directly. What if I heard that? Does that count?

    Lol

    Ooo, I touched a nerve.

You're an ideologue who doesn't know the basic of engineering in relation to energy production. You keep peddling the same wishful thinking that if only we all picked up a shovel everything is possible. Well it's not!

The only people ignorant around here are those who believe in the GND dream. You don't have the ressources, the manpower and the industrial base to even do a tiny bit of it. The Roosevelt new deal and the WW2 effort was done by curteiling peoples rights in presence of an ACTUAL existencial threat. No such threat exist today. The DNC have been trying to manufacture some but so far they're batting zero. No one will go with rationing and the lost of individual liberty for some socialist petard.

Beside, since the left believe so much that man is responsible for the upcomming apocalypse, they should do their part and commit mass suicide to give the rest of us a few more years.

Seeing how all the hysteria is based on the least likely RCP8.5 and observed science isn't playing along well it is dogma based on bad information.

In the 70s, when I was a kid, they told us that an ice age was coming. For some reason due to people. I can't remember. I see no glaciers in my back yard.

I was in my 20's then and remember it also. Before that there was the same warming claims so evidently no matter what the climate does it is fearful but this one takes the cake.

Trump fabricated or had that headline fabricated. They got caught red-handed. It never happened.

There was a small group of scientists worried about global cooling for a time. But they were quickly shown to be wrong.

What quote from the GND would you like ? - and how can someone quote what is not there - which is the problem.

Regardless why is a quote from the GND required to show that Cortez is not qualified to lead - when I gave you quotes directly from Cortez.

Last - learn what words mean (ad hom) before you use them ... and you once again failed to answer question. How does Blocking Pipelines help deal with the global environmental problem - or even the local problem ?

    I like the whole thing.

You can quote what it is you are criticizing.

Yeah.... you already said China, India, Cows... Which clearly indicates that you are criticizing a Resolution that you haven't even read. As a matter of fact, your criticizing a proposal, and you haven't read so much as the title. Because the title is "Recognizing the duty of the Federal Government to create a Green New Deal."

To show that AOC is not qualified to lead you would need waaay more than a quote. Especially given the fact that she is leading. If you wanted to show that AOC is not qualified to lead in the struggle to address Climate Change, that quote would be the tiniest of beginnings in your gargantuan endevour

But if you can't even do that.... I see very little hope for you.

Oh... my friend. That is one place you do not want to go. You would not come out looking well from that discussion.

Yes. Your argument is most definitely an ad-hominem. If you take away nothing from this discussion, that is at least one thing you may want to look up before you even try to use this nonsense in another discussion.

"How am I to get in?" asked Alice again, in a louder tone.
"Are you to get in at all?" said the Footman, "That's the first question, you know."
Source: Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Ch. 6.

And while you're looking up logical fallacies, you might want to look for one called ""Plurium interrogationum" Your question and the quote above illustrate this fallacy. If you can't figure that out, I would advice you to stay far away from any discussion about "ad-hominem"

allacy. If you can't figure that out, I would advice you to stay far away from any discussion about "ad-hominem"
    [/QUOTE]

What a disingenuous joke of a post. I have given the Keystone as a a specific example of Cortez's inability to lead the charge numerous times .. and you bring up cow farts.

I have asked you directly - How does blocking pipelines help with the environmental Issues facing us - giving examples of Cortez -and Obama's opposition to pipelines - you say "why have you not posted directly from the GDN - as if this is relevant"

If Cortez can not figure out that blocking pipelines does nothing to help with environmental issues she is not qualified to lead the charge.

Your understanding of what logical fallacy is - is wanting - unless of course this is just part of your disingenuous denial which is more likely the case. If you are going to claim "fallacy" then state which of my comments was fallacious oh lame one.

Running around quoting the Latin names .of various fallacies is not an argument for anything.

Unable to comprehend the point - that Cortez's not being qualified to lead the charge is not just about what is in the "The Deal" - you have been trying to avoid answering my question by your constant requesting that I post "directly" from the GND".

Page 13-4(i) to stop the transfer of jobs and pollution overseas; and
    https://ocasio-cortez.house.gov/sit....gov/files/Resolution on a Green New Deal.pdf

Blocking pipelines does both of the above. In addition - blocking pipeline construction has a negative impact on the environment.

The fact of the matter is that not building the Keystone will not change US oil consumption by one drop. It will not change the carbon equation - in fact it may decrease overall CO2 emissions.

Roughly 46 % of oil going in to US refineries is imported from some 72 different nations. The question is then - do we get this Oil from "Canada" - a nation with a strong environmental standards - a nation that does not dump heavy metals and persistent organic pollutants directly into the Ocean - or do we get it from "Nigeria" ? a nation that does dump pollutants directly into the Ocean - among other things.

This is a direct transfer of pollution overseas.

Not only are pipelines a far safer way to transport crude - relative to shipping by tanker - a pipeline spill is far easier to clean up than a tanker leaking into the Ocean - the effect of tanker traffic on whales and other ocean species is eliminated. Never mind the pollution (dirty diesel) and emissions from tankers.

Which is better is not even a question from an environmental perspective - its a slam dunk which is better from an overall environmental perspective.

Then you have jobs - Not just in building the Keystone but in the operation and maintenance of the line after the fact. High paying jobs.

Then you have the fact that increasing Canada's economic well being - benefits the US. Many of the companies operating in the Canadian oil sector are US companies. Canadians spend huge amount of money in the US - wintering in Arizona and cross border shopping. There is no better money than the tourist dollar - it is "free money". Nigeria ? not so much.

So - for the 4th time. How does Cortez blocking pipelines help the environment - and serve to further the stated goals of the NGD ?

And second - why would we want someone who does not understand the above - be leading the charge ?

LOL. All that verbiage just to state that you hate the good for being good.

In Venezuela, they celebrate Earth Day, everyday, and not just for an hour. Want to stop the useage of fossil fuels? Venezuela has shown us how. Become Socialist.

One thing AOC got right, without fossil fuels, air travel won’t be neccessary. She just didn’t mention why. It will be impossible.

Want to truly see life without fossil fuels? Visit Venezuela.

Why can't you get it through your head? AOC's opinions about Keystone have absolutely nothing to do with her ability to lead! I have no idea what her opinion is. And you haven't even quoted it. But it makes no difference. She may be right. She may be dead wrong. She may be ... somewhat right or wrong.... makes absolutely no difference. Only in religious cults will you find leaders that are always right. In the real world, you will never find a real leader who has always been right about everything. So stop the nonsense!

She is the perfect leader because she is leading! Period! That's all a leader needs to do. She is advancing the conversation, drawing attention to the problem, motivating people..... Especially the young.

And FYI, her last name is Ocasio, or Ocasio-Cortez. It follows the Spanish norms.

I'll give you a direct answer: You are uninformed! Obama does not oppose pipelines.. I don't know Ocasio's position, but I doubt you know it either.

Are you joking? It's what this thread is about!

It's the only thing that is relevant. The rest is off-topic!

You have shown that you don't know what you are talking about. You don't know Obama's positions, you criticize the GND without reading it, you didn't know what leadership means.... you didn't even read the title of a thread?

What indication would we have that you could have any notion about who a "good leader" would be?

And, to make it worse, now you just fabricate statements. There is nothing in your quote or anywhere in the GND about blocking pipleines. That does not seem to be intellectually honest.

You are the one that is dishonest and I did not fabricate anything. It is you who is the master of fabrication. I never claimed there was something in the GND about blocking pipelines.

What I said was that her opinion in relation to blocking pipelines goes against the stated goals of the GND.

AOC's opinions on the Keystone have everything to do with her ability to lead on environmental issues - because she has no clue what she is doing.

If AOC does not realize that blocking the Keystone actually hurts the environment - and that this action contributes to the transfer of Jobs and Pollution overseas - then she is not qualified to be making decisions in relation to her own program - a program which claims to be helping the environment and claims to want to

Your hopelessly lost - way out of your depth - and all you have is ad hom and strawman - attributing falsehoods to me so you have something to attack.

No. All that verbiage is to state that I hate the bad for being bad. That, and everything I write, means that, in the end, the bad guys will lose, and the guy with the white hat will rule the day, get the girl and ride off into the sunset.

Venezuela has a problem. But it's not exactly socialism.

Not until they replace Jesus Christ with John Galt as their ideal to emulate; and then realize that Man is nature's highest expression of life and that she is his to command, not grovel before.

"Thousands of years ago the first man discovered how to make fire. He was probably burned at the stake he had taught his brothers to light, but he left them a gift they had not conceived of, and he lifted darkness off the earth. Through out the centuries there were men who took first steps down new roads, armed with nothing but their own vision. The great creators, the thinkers, the artists, the scientists, the inventors, stood alone against the men of their time. Every new thought was opposed. Every new invention was denounced. But the men of unborrowed vision went ahead. They fought, they suffered, and they paid - but they won.

Actually, you have no clue what she is doing. She knows exactly what she is doing. She is leading. Not making policy. That's what good leaders do. There is a time to outline what needs to be done. And there is a time to figure out how to do it. A real leader knows that they don't do it on their own. They lead, and experts participate. Why? Because leaders understand that they don't know everything. That they can make mistakes. And that in something as complex as this, you need the input of experts.

That's what's she's doing. If you believe that a "leader" is somebody like Trump. Who just comes out saying "I know more than the Generals" and "I alone can fix this".... then you don't know what AOC is doing. But she most definitely does.

The Keystone pipeline needed to be blocked. Not because it's a pipeline. But because of its defects. First they were unable to provide enough evidence that they offered enough security to the environment. But Trump authorized it's completion without those guarantees After it started operating, they lied about the effects of the 2017 spill in South Dakota. The company has likely hidden various spills, and the Trump administration has been unwilling to investigate. Therefore, the only alternative is to altogether shut down the pipeline until we have a responsible administration in power. AOC has been proven to be 100% absolutely RIGHT!!! about the Keystone pipeline.

Now... all of this is off-topic. As it has nothing to do with AOC's leadership abilities. Which are unquestionable.

You have no clue what you are talking about ... as usual - making up BS as you go along. TranCanada did everything it was mandated with respect to providing security to the environment ... Full Stop.

Obama blocked the Transcanada 1st on the basis that the Oil Sand crude had higher carbon emissions than conventional Crude. After delaying the project for nearly 2 years over this nonsense argument - one that he knew was nonsense from the get go - a study which should have taken 2 days (but took nearly 2 years) confirmed that there was no significant difference with respect to the carbon equation.

Then Obama made up a different nonsense excuse.

Prove your claim that TCPL lied about the effects of a 2017 spill . Your claim - "the company has likely hidden various spills" is made up falsehood. Only someone completely ignorant of the industry and the nature of the company involved would make up such nonsense.

Your claim that AOC has been proven 100% right is completely false. In the link given to you previously - everything she said was demonstrably false or abject nonsense.
