I trust my gun more than I trust you. I trust that my gun is less likely to be turned against me than you are. I trust that my gun is more likely to protect me, and those around me, than the police are. I trust my gun to stand between me and you whether you want to impose your best intentions, or your less-than-best intentions, upon me by force. I know that my gun isn't perfect, but I'd rather take the risks involved with my gun's imperfections than the risks involved with having your perfections imposed upon me by force, even if it's by force of law.

I'm armed, trained and practiced. I don't need your help. Now, go away.

Reading this post....it's not your gun I'd be worried about. Well, I would be, because I would wonder how you got one.

You have nothing to worry about from me as long as you don't try to impose your best intentions, or less-than-best intentions, upon me by force. In fact, if you don't arm yourself, you're much safer by me than not.

Prohibit anxieties, no assistance is required. Gratitude, move along nothing to see here.

...and what if you want to impose your best intentions, or less-than-best, or even bad intentions, upon me by force? Seems a lot of people are being forced to lose their liberties, their freedoms, their rights, as well as their lives, by those wielding the same force and right that you stand behind. I don't trust you. I don't trust gun owners to keep their weapons safe from toddlers who able to shoot someone once a week. I don't trust gun shops not to sell to someone who then uses the weapon in a mass shooting that happens every day. I don't trust gun owners not to use the weapon on themselves or any of their immediate family. I don't trust gun manufacturers to keep their product out of the hands of criminals, who more often than any other reason, obtain the product from legal sources. I don't trust your delusion of safety or security.

From what I hear there is a difference between being trained and armed and killing another human being.

I don't know because I've never done either.

My dad said that the first guy he shot in Vietnam he shot all his bullets into him, reloaded and shot all those also.

    I couldn't shoot someone.

Mainly because I don't want their tainted blood splattering on me but either way, you get my point.

I was trained to use firearms before I was ever trained by the military to kill someone...The OP sounds like an angry old man....I am also old yet have no desire to have my firearms as the love of my life...

    Didn't laugh at all.

Moonglow's was subtle and says all that needs to be said in regard to this thread.

Ashley Judd is reciting someone else's poem. Maybe the OP's is a poem. Maybe an ironic and sardonic one. In which case, I like it!

So, only you should have a gun? If anyone one else has a gun, anyone, I'm going to have one also, for all of the reasons you cite above and more, much, much more.

I've had to defend my self-defense in court twice. My life was just as much on the line as it was the nights I shot them. I was shot twice, stabbed three times and hit in the face with a baseball bat in my youth. I was acquitted of manslaughter and murder 2 in my twenties. The mix of emotions one experiences after killing someone who was trying to kill them is the same as when one hears a round go past their ear. It's a mix of horror and elation.

"the love of my life" ? How does your mind work? Who does that occur to? Where does that come from?

I’m not worried about gun grabbers, gun grabbers shouldn’t be worried about me.
I have a scary looking rifle sitting in my gun safe, with scary looking 30 round magazines. They’re collecting dust, and I hope they stay in there collecting dust.

Me too! I also trust your gun more than I trust you. And that's why we must separate the two.

My dad let me shoot one of his guns when I was a kid, bought knocked my ass on the floor and I smelled like gun powder for a week.

    No thank you!

But I do wholly support your right to carry a gun to protect me when I blow my whistle.
