Sure, there's an unorganized militia that is subject to being drafted. But the law doesn't give them any power or right to self-organize. And states can still organize, fund and regulate state defense forces.

I don't see how a neighborhood patrol watch compares to Larry Mitchell Hopkins and his group, though.

Hopkins is giving me some pleasure though. I showed his pic to my wife and said "see, this is what I'm trying to avoid to keep working for another 15 years!" LOL

 

The law doesn't really prevent it either. If anything, the laws tends to support groups like this, even if they do not even give them authority.

Actually it's more accurately simple assault at lease in my state. I'm not sure about NM, except there seems to be no legal justification for a person to stop another with any threat.

 

No it isn't. We are allowed to make citizen's arrests in the US. This can be for felonies, misdemeanors, or even breach of peace. Citizens are even allowed to use non-deadly use of force. Citizens are also immune from civil or criminal liability. Entering the Country illegally is a crime (misdemeanor). Whether it is one individual or a group of individuals, it does not matter. As long as they are not trespassing on private property or in restricted areas, they are likely on solid legal grounds.

 

Entry into the Union is not a private property violation for private citizens to enforce. Besides, Dallas Country would benefit more.

Here's another thought for all these people who marvel at the inability of the United States Government to secure the Southern Border of the United States, which measures 1,550 miles -- end to end.... Add another ~3,987 miles if you include the Northern Border with Canada, for a TOTAL OF 5,537 MILES!
