?

Is Economic inequality a DEEPEST NATIONAL SHAME, or what God intended?

I have heard right wingers for YEARS, tell me that inequality, PROVES this is a GREAT country. That ISSSSSSSSSSS the American Dream. No, not that all boats rise, but that your boat runs over all the jetskis.

Lifestyles of the rich and famous, could only happen in a capitalistic country, right? All good. If you are not rich, BLAME YOSEFF, says mr 999. Failed fed appointee.

Well, the most inequal country in the world, has been called the "the deepest national shame."
By its nobel prize winning leader. No, not mandela, deKlerk.

The feel of S Africa is exactly what the right wing is aiming for. Cities that are left to rot, and the people in them, and grand estates, where the REAL AMERICANS live, in rural splendor.

We have the blueprint. We have our aim.

And, the results cannot be denied.

"We find virtually no whites living below the middle class," Fazila Farouk and Murray Leibbrandt with the Southern Africa Labor and Development Research Unit wrote last year.

This is the same result the white folk insist upon here. Us first, then whatever is left, will be thrown to the swine.

IS economic inequality even a black mark? Is a failed state for moar than half the population simply the cost of providing the most for the elites?

    Seems so.

Used to be, the right wing scolded us, and said that we are not a zero sum game, and there is enough prosperity to go around.

Now, the right wing spends all its time finding scapegoats, to rip resources from, as it should ALL be theirs, they should feel lucky we let them keep anything.

IT seem that now, it is a zero sum game down to civil war. With the right wing never again envisioning anything but dog eat dog.

All the while, saying that is what GOD intended, and honors.

IS economic inequality a deepest national shame? Or should we take, from the poor, till they are properly humbled?

IT seems there is NO SHAME in the right wing. To seekids in squalor, only calls to mind bad parents, not bad nation. Not bad policies, only lazy stupid poor.

    So I ask.

Post-apartheid South Africa is world's most unequal country

The giant disparity we have now between CEO and Executives and the rank and file employees did not exist before the Reagan administration and the establishment of the 401K and subsequent cancellation of over 100,000 company pension plansCEO's,Executives and Boards of directors took all the money saved from no longer funding company pension plans and divvied it up amongst themselves continuing the practice annually ever since.

Not even going to waste my time reading the verbal diarrhea above, but I will respond to your thread title. Of course it's not a "deep national shame" that some people are rich and some are poor. It is not even a "national shame," nor a "deep shame," nor any kind of shame at all. Some people are more capable than others and that's just how it is. Is it fair? I don't know. Is it fair that my 11 handicap has kept me off the PGA tour? I don't know. Is it fair that rappers get to **** supermodels? I don't know. Eventually, no matter how rich you are, how far you can hit a golf ball, how many supermodels you get to ****, how many people you can get to download your social meida app, we all end up in the same place: In the ground. Feeding the worms. There's your equality.

South Africa isn't unequal because the black population is kept poor. It's more a matter of a huge population of Africa's poor blacks flocking to South Africa looking to take a portion of the wealth of South Africa.

Ok so you have laid out a problem in South Africa and you say here as well. So what is your solution? It is easy to state there is a problem but real discussion can only happen about solutions.

Well, of course, it is a complex problem.

What I will say is, we need a complete overhaul. That includes dealing with how we create money. The interest must be created as well, or some other mechanism.

And, we must revisit the disparity between levels, with force if need be. Like how we forced health ins into the mix of a job. But I would rather direct ways of dealing with things. No robbing peter to pay paul. And, we must deal with automation. A lot is coming at us quickly, which is why the white folks are in a fright.

Yes, but it's a lot better than the $7.00+ minimum wage now.

I agree about automation being a huge problem and in my opinion the one that will impact the economy and the world the most. I am not sure where the racial aspect comes in when all segments of the population will be impacted especially poor white people just like poor black.

Looking at your response you mention revisiting disparity with force if need be? There are to parts of that I am curious about first what does "revisit" mean? Are you talking taking from the rich and giving to the poor? Or creating economic penalties for those that have wealth? Or something else. The second part "force" is also something to look at. Now some will say that any action of the government is force. But is that what you mean or do you mean actually taking and punishing if the haves do not relent?

Back to automation though, there will come a point where anything can be made and it can be made immensely cheaply. The new economy in my opinion will have to revolve around natural resource allocation once goods become so easy to acquire.

It's good that you don't want to rob Peter to pay Paul, because there are way too many Pauls in SA, and Peter just doesn't have nearly enough to pay them all. It wouldn't work even if you robbed Peter blind.

It's a simple numbers games, and there are just too many poor people that have flooded(and are still flooding) into SA over the last 50 years.

If you seized all of the wealth of the top 10% of wealth holders, and you spread it around completely evenly, what you'd have is formerly rich people that have been brought down to a poverty level, and formerly poor people that are essentially exactly as poor as they were before. With the wealth spread so thin, the effect it would have on the teeming masses of poor would be negligible. The raising of their stations would be essentially undetectable.

There are just too many poor people that have overwhelmed SA for any of the problems to be solved in a simplistic "Robin Hood" manner.

Good question. For Christian professing people, the answer is found in the Book of Amos which I have written about on this forum previously. For others, the answer can be found in Essay # 10 of the Federalist Papers which was written in 1787 or 31 years before Marx was born.

America was founded on the idea of equal opportunity, not equal distribution of wealth.
I'm sorry the OP's bitterness has ruined his life to the point of him wishing to take by force from those who have earned more than others.
He is simply a bitter, disenchanted individual that blames all his troubles on people who had nothing to do with his life, but.simply did the best they could for themselves and.their family.
When I see his avatar, I immediately know ther is some type of rant against everyone who is not as miserable as he is. So sad to see.

Bring millions of illegal aliens in from other impoverished countries and then complain about rising inequality, is that the ploy these days?

Inequality in everything is the result of unique individuals. That can't be fixed. Those who dwell on inequality are losers and enviers. But they rave on thinking it makes them look intelligent and caring. Sad.

The US needs cumpulsory military service. All entitlements need to be predicated on community service. The GI bill will give every American access to debt free college degrees. The same whiners who say they aren't getting their fair share invite illegals to burden our social welfare system, and our public schools. Now they expect "other" Americans to go die in Venezuela to make sure Maduro's malcontents get their fair share of oil revenuse.

Well that one’s that get poorer, stop buying...that’s why you have to market your goods and services to everyone. That way you can keep getting richer, if not you’ll get poorer.

There is a great article that's out today, and covered on many threads on this website about how 30 plus years ago even the President suffered a great set back in his business, but never gave up...continued to work hard and pull though it, obviously climbing back and into the White House. You should take a great look at him, and that spirit and even you can get out of the hole you put yourself in.

financing a good economy? seems more like socialized wealth redistribution to some of us.
