The House is set to add protections for LGBT persons in Federal housing, education, and workplace anti-discrimination laws.

But Conservatives oppose this. They will not let it pass the Senate.

and they will demand Trump veto the bill if by some crazy chance it made it to his desk.

Why do Conservatives think that Gays, Lesbians, Transgender folks should have no right to work, to an education, to housing?

Why do they think discrimination against them is ok?

Don't they believe in Equal Opportunity for all Americans?

What would anybody expect from the GOP that supports the most DIVISIVE (America-Hating, Treasonous) President in U.S. History?

    You don't think they're equal.

If you did, you wouldn't want to give them additional protections.

if you think it should be legal to discriminate against someone in housing or education or employment simply because they are gay or lesbian or a transgender.......you don't think they should be treated as normal citizens but instead as second-class citizens.

which is funny because I always thought conservatives fully believed in equality of opportunity.

It was foolish to redefine marriage from a man and a woman to what we have now. Heterosexuals should have exclusive use of the word “marriage”. Civil unions are fine.

Otherwise, I see no reason for discrimination, including LBGTQXYZ , affirmative action quotas, etc.

I think the government being involved in marriage at all is foolish and there should only be civil unions.

It shouldn't be legal to discriminate against anyone for any reason.

The same discrimination laws for all of America would make people equal.

Giving people special protections that other's don't have makes us not-equal.

So you would argue that heterosexuals can be denied housing, or fired from their jobs, just because they are heterosexual ... cause if not - there is no "special" protections - they are just equal protections.

Why yes, the people who spend all their time doxxing people, hitting them over the head with bike locks, trying to run them out of business, refusing service over hats, etc. should be easily recognizable to you.

I would argue that there are just as many reasons to not rent to a homosexual as a heterosexual.

Texas is an At Will state, employers don't even have to give you a reason. You want equality? You can be At Risk with the rest of us then.

Hitting someone is discrimination? Since when? And I thought refusing service wasn’t discrimination??? Remember the cake incident??? That wasn’t discrimination, right?

And gay people should have the same right to wrongful termination law suits as heterosexuals under those conditions. That is not a "special" protection. It is an equal protection.

You are arguing that a heterosexual has extra rights once hired because he won't be fired just for being heterosexual, but an employee or renter who has rented for say, six months can be fired or kicked out of his house just for being gay ... all other things being equal. Because right now, in most areas, it would be illegal just to fire someone, or kick them from work, just for being heterosexual.

No, I'm arguing no such thing.

I'm arguing that being discriminated against for any reason not directly related to the issue should not be allowed, for anyone, for any non-valid reason.

The only reason you should be denied a rental is if you can't afford it or don't pay your bills. The only reason you should get fired is if you are poor at your job.

You should re-read my initial statement and think about it before trying to put words in my mouth.

Well technically that's assault/battery, and possibly a hate crime....which is based on discrimination.

No, the cake incident wasn't discrimination. Ask SCOTUS.

Except where I showed assault can be discrimination and the baker didn't refuse service, sure.

All citizens should have equal treatment and opportunity in our society. This should be federal law. Discrimination is immoral and wrong.
