Assuming Dirty Donalds plan for all highly skilled very well educated immigrants be allowed to enter the USA.They will want highly skilled highly paid jobs, so all you aspiring trainees and aspirational young Americans be prepared to sacrifice your upward progression in your chosen profession to a better educated smarter immigrant. Your future is limited.

Canada and Scandinavia are not rich enough to support the poor rejected by USA.

Maybe we need more lower skilled americans employed and less higher skilled americans employed. The higher skilled americans can more easily find other options..

The objective should be to get all employed and providing training to those lacking in skills.

so maybe we need to just put immigration on full stop for a while. until out american workers are trained and employed. you make a great argument for that.

Then perhaps said aspirational young citizens of the united states should look into improving their own standing as potential employees, and stop worrying irrelevant matters like hurt feelings, preferred pronouns, and what their gender identity is. If they wish to succeed, they need to demonstrate that they are worth having more than anyone else in the field.

Implicit in your comment is what George Bush used to call the "soft racism of low expectations." Congratulations.

Because we have all the fruit pickers we need. What we are short on are physicians, computer programmers, scientists, aerospace engineers.

Well, all those who want to work anyway.

Also, we should strip any able bodied person who refuses to work of all welfare and government aid. Let lazy peices of **** die starve to death, and use the money saved to fund jobs training and education.

The united states has maintained immigration laws for quite some time now, and it set requirements on who could and could not enter. For instance, when Ellis Island was still functioning, one could not legally immigrate to the united states without a sponsor. Nor could those who were ill legally enter the united states. Nor could those who did not have their papers in order enter.

It sounds like you are arguing that we should stop all immigration, since the same thing applies to any foreign competition for US jobs.

    Good idea!

Why study to be a software engineer when there are so many available in the international market

Probably a good idea to change the words emblazoned on the Statue of Liberty: Send me your highly skilled and well educated yearning to take our best jobs

Not just the United States. Controlled immigration is the normative state of international affairs the world over. When my wife and I lived in China, we had to comply with that country's very strict immigration regulations. Including registering as "Lao-Wai" (foreigner) with the local police. And when we moved apartments, we had to re-register so the government could keep tabs on us. On three occasions, we had plain-clothed immigration police come to our door and demand to see our "papers," which was our passports, residential permits, work permits, apartment lease, and copies of our local foreigner registrations. If we didn't like it, we were free to leave.

Then upon returning to the United States, both natural born citizens, we had to present ourselves and our belongings to CBP in Los Angeles to gain admission back into our own homeland.

And that's pretty much the way it works with every country.

Nah, we only take immigrants that can read and wipe their own arses. Which renders trump's base almost entirely unacceptable.

But by all means keep dreaming, no matter how anemic they may be.

Liberals have just taken up rigging the SAT system. The vulnerable sub par students will be artificially hoisted to lofty positions they're not fit to occupy after graduation. Low intelligence Americans represent the next generation of government bureaucracy. Maxine Waters can't live forever ... So, no ones worried about losing the jobs their actually qualified for. Just elect more imbeciles to dole out more entitlements.

Can I ask why is a bad thing to have standards for admittance into our country? It seems to be the norm for most countries in the world.

Its about time the US came into line with most of the rest of the world when it comes to immigration.

Merit based immigration is almost universal. Its damn hard to immigrate to Canada for instance and to make it even harder on those qualified immigrants, in general we don't recognize their professional credentials so they can be doctors or engineers or lawyers or any other licensed "profession". So they qualify to enter, but they aren't qualified to practice so are forced to become friggin' uber drivers or convenience store clerks.

OTOH, this idiotic end "chain migration" argument has trump pumping out bullshit as usual. He claims there are no qualifications for entry for family members, but the law is pretty damn clear that they must qualify on their own merits. It sure as hell ain't automatic, and the wait period can be decades, in some case. But that kind of bullshit works great on his supporters who don't care what the facts actually are, if the bullshit fits their uninformed opinions.

Yes, those of us in the Trump base should learn to recognize our intellectually superior masters.

    Made myself laugh again.
