Sorry Tim.....you cannot suppress a World view on your ridiculous gun laws and you sure will not stop mine. You say that you'll handle the violence (ie the perpetual mass slaughter of people in the USA) your way. How's that working out, Tim? I'll tell you......it isn't. How can you not see that? Will it take your kids, slaughtered at their work place lying in coffins in front of you before you realise that their lives are far more important than you (and any civilian in the USA) having the means to massacre your kids? Come on Tim. People, children, worshippers, people at rock concerts etc etc are being slain by the gun you insist their killers must have.

Contrasting the per capita shooting vs gun ownership rates of, say, Chicago against that of the entirety of rural America easily demonstrates the fallacy of your reasoning. Most of the shooting violence in America occurs where most of the guns aren't.

There was this Marxist radio show host in Baltimore, he was as anti-gun as anyone could be. Said all the same things you and the other gun banners say. Then one day his wife opens the front door and has a gun stuck into her face. After that, he was extremely pro gun as he wished he had one at the time. There is no law that most likely would have kept the gun out of that thugs hands, but the law abiding citizen would be disarmed by the laws you propose. No matter what you think unless the 2nd amendment is eliminated, American's have the right to own a gun. Guns use to be a whole lot easier to get, you could mail order them with no problem. In the past, most every household had a gun yet people weren't going on these murderous rampages back then. Something else is going on and it's not because there are too many guns.

I suspect I have to be clearer. Get rid of the second Amendment. That is inherent in my position. You people value having a gun far, far more than human life. (You did not say how that Baltimore story ended. Was anyone killed? Did he say what he could have done if he had a gun?)

Show me your evidence of that. Not that it will change my position anyway. No guns in civilian hands...no civilian gets killed. Simple as that. How hard is that to comprehend?

    Wrong. Australia.

You need to take the guns away. The next time you hold that gun of yours, ask yourself...."Is my possession of this far more important that the life of my child attending school?"

I'd say no. If you made guns illegal except in unusual circumstances, then you also would not have to allow your police to frequently shoot someone dead because he 'might' have a gun allowing many more innocents their lives.

The UK had some mass shootings in the 80's and 90's. One in Hungerford in 87 after which

and the most gross one the killing of the youngest children in Dunblane School Scotland in '96. After which

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10216955

That certainly ended what seemed to be becoming a semi regular event. Now most gun crimes are committed by organised crime and if the police are involved they know that is what they are dealing with and would probably be given permission to carry guns.

Your children have gone out on marches asking you to stop allowing this killing of them by allowing everyone and his dog to have a gun.

I remember when I was dealing with a very difficult situation some years ago a friend of mine who was American said 'it is just as well you do not live in the States and have a gun. I hate to think what you would do!'. As it happened I had never thought of killing anyone in any way, but that just shows where an American can see one might deal with a difficult situation.

It makes perfect sense on paper.

Its simply not possible to take all the guns away. They're too easy to hide/smuggle/build. Laws will only keep lawful people unarmed.

Yes....and the Australian experience proves that argument is a non argument. Paladin, I suspect we are done. Nothing I say, nothing you say is gonna change me or you. But, I can guarantee that the chance of my Grandkids being slaughtered at School by some maniac with a gun is far better than yours. Choose your poison, Mate. Cheers.

If the 2nd amendment was abolished and Americans were forced to surrender their guns do you have any idea the chaos that would cause? The blood shed? And the war on drugs didn't solve anything. Like drugs guns will be sold illegally which would make them harder to track. That is not the solution. America needs to address it's mental health issues. Why are so many Americans angry enough to do such an evil thing as shooting unarmed people?

    "illegal guns in Australia
    View all

In October 2016, it was estimated that there were 260,000 unregistered guns in Australia, 250,000 long arms and 10,000 handguns, most of them in the hands of organised crime groups and other criminals. There are 3 million registered firearmsin Australia."

People with guns would be sent to take guns from other people. Civil war.

Seems like an awful lot of guns not being controlled. Not very good 'proof'.

Such does not change the point that it is indeed fact.

The same logic applies to motor vehicles. Should such be outlawed from the general public, on the basis that they become deadly weapons when used by the wrong individuals, and for the wrong purposes?

Umm, hello, life in most other countries is worse. Availability of firearms is the BIG difference.
