I said progressives/leftists or whoever were more in keeping with their ideals

it was you who called the Founder progressive leftists - but in all likelihood, they may have found that flattering ;)

Money doesn't benefit the people you're talking about. They are they way they are because they can't stand the responsibility of money, and get rid of it as soon as it falls into their hands. They literally don't want it.

If you doubt me, give a poor American $100,000 and tell him that's his lot for the next 5 years. Tell him he'll need to eke it out and manage it carefully, living like a pauper to preserve those funds. I guarantee you that 9 out of 10 won't do it.

I generally avoid posting simplistic answers to complex problems and you can't get more complex than socio-economic problems. However, sometimes it is worthwhile to toss out a "core cause" based on a lot of years experience and collected knowledge in economics, history, and international business experience. I have come to believe the causality of income disparity is that capitalism is like fertilizer, when applied properly it makes thing grow. Apply too much and things start to stink. America is far out on the stink curve.

Capitalism requires a certain amount of ambition and greed to succeed. That's fine. When greed and ambition take over, however it becomes a malignant force. Over a hundred years ago, Marx predicted that capital mobility would move money and investment to low wage areas until there were no more low wage areas. Then, he predicted an international "worker's revolt." Let's not go crazy here, but the rise of populism throughout the developed nations is reaction against "status quo" where general populations see inequality of earnings and a lot of other social ills brought on by a concentration of wealth a power at the expense of the middle class. This is bad ju ju because historically this kid of social instability has preceded violent revolution.

Of course they know. With respect, what a nonsense that anyone over the age of 10 doesn't know that a salad is better than a cheeseburger.

    Uh huh.

They weren't progressive leftists, it's just that they thought like progressive leftists.

    Sure.

Demanding more (most of us already have free education, free healthcare, and access to welfare in emergencies) is outrageous.

I suppose that there a some people advocating “equality” .... but not many that i have heard

Imo, the number if people advocating “equality” us dwarfed by the number of the number of people that advocate personal responsibility as a code word taxed too much to subsidize the leisure lifestyle and votes of lazy and entitled democrats

WHY do they live alone with no friends? That would never happen in the Third World. Or so rarely that it's close to never.

That’s hilarious. But illustrates well the perversion of history by the left.

The govt can't correct inequality but it will make things far worse.

With respect, no. The cause is too much safety for too long. It has made ordinary people indolent spoiled babies, who don't have sufficient fear of death to stir themselves to the business of survival.

IOW, our animal nature .. when paired with too much safety .. always turns south.

Not in America. You know that's not possible.

What you're seeing is people who prioritised other things, knowing they could 'cry poor' at the food bank.

Not possible? Sure it is. Elderly, no employment prospects, all the kids non- existent or blown to the wind. Sick. Out in the country where the last job got outsourced to China. It's hard to understand when you are rolling 7's yourself. Again, I'm not talking starvation here. I'm talking hungry and fresh out of friends.

Don't think it can't happen to you.

Perhaps you can stop supporting his dodge and answer my diddy question: Are you in favour of extreme inequalities, despite not being consistent with any economic rationale associated with skill sets or work ethic?

If they don't have enough for rice and beans, then they're definitely spending money on something other than basic healthy food.

I asked this question a few posts back. WHY are they living like that? That just doesn't work, if you're old and poor. Third Worlders stick together to ensure this stuff doesn't happen - because they have no safety nets.
