You never hear Democrats whining about Obama's 4 record $1 trillion plus deficits. Trump hasn't even gotten there yet, and apparently it's the worst thing ever.

Trump was handed a Glowing economy ................. Not the Great Recession as President Obama had to repair

Under Trump he would have turned it into a Great Depression !!

Yes, you can blame tax cuts. Without those cuts, revenue would have been much higher and the deficit would not have increased (or at least would not have increased so much.

If you are in favor of a balanced budget, you must oppose the tax cuts. Even if you want to cut spending, you must also recognise that tax cuts need to accompany or even better follow the spending cuts - not precede them. Right?

Great point! I have asked the question many times, why does the GOP always cut taxes FIRST, then PRETENDS to cut spending, but never does? Our conservative friends never even attempt to answer it.

Here is why: The GOP knows full well that spending cuts will result in less money in people's pockets and, thus, a decrease in economic activity. That's why they do this only when a Dem is in office ( for example the sequester) to make them look bad. When a Republican is in office, it is cut taxes and spend more, to make the voters FEEL like the GOP is good for the economy. It is a nefarious game played on the backs of future generations. Unfortunately, it works every time.

    Here's the key part.

    "
It’s Official: The Trump Tax Cuts Didn’t Pay for Themselves in Year One
Federal tax revenues declined in 2018 while economic growth accelerated, undercutting the Trump administration’s insistence that the $1.5 trillion tax package would pay for itself.
    "
Without the tax cuts, economic growth would have resulted in higher tax revenues. Trump managed to achieve growth combined with lower revenues.

    "Cut Spending"?

Sorry, but the neuroreceptors located between the ears of Lefties are not programmed to compute "Cut Spending".

This concept is as alien to them as Aristotelian logic is to a fish...

And as shown by 2018, would be up even more if there hadn't been tax cuts. Revenue is not up as much as economic growth.

Remind me - how much did the Rs cut spending when they controlled both houses of Congress and the presidency for two years?

Wake me up when the GOP cuts spending. They had two years of full control and didn't do it. Yet, you keep voting for them, in the misguided feeling that they are fiscally conservative. In reality, they are like the shopping queen with the unlimited credit card.

Really? That's your excuse? Paul Ryan, who was hailed as the supposed budget whiz kid in 2012, who proposed his antisocial path to prosperity spending cutting, privatization budget in 2012 prevented Trump from cutting spending?

Of course, like Trump and any other Republican, they only talk a good talk about fiscal responsibility when a Dem is in office.

Umm, no - the GOP didn't have full control for two years because they didn't have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate and had to compromise with the spendthrifts you vote for the fund the government.

As for the Republicans I vote for, they are trying to cut spending, but they can't even get a Pennies Plan passed because our fellow Americans are electing Democrats and CINOs.

More excuses. They apparently didn't need a super majority to pass the tax cut, which was passed by the Senate on a 51 to 48 vote.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/19/us/politics/tax-bill-vote-congress.html

So, what's your next excuse for the GOP not cutting spending?

I opposed irresponsible spending all along. It doesn't matter if they have a D or an R by their name; they spend like a thief with a stolen credit card.

It's difficult to reduce government spending when you have as a gift a decrepit economy.

But Republicans are used to entering the White House when everything is going well and leaving a crisis behind...... and have been for 40 years.

And I'm sure you applauded when Trump announced tax cuts in the midst of economic growth.

Still satisfied with the 2.9% growth in 2018? ....And a superb recession is forecast for 2021.....

But don't worry, Trump will fix it.

Obama took office in the midst of the worst recession in 80 years. Revenues tanked due to unemployment. Stock market crashed. Stimulus spending was required to halt the recession.

Trump took office during a booming economy with almost full employment.

    See the difference?

What is your excuse for republicans increasing spending in 2018 and 2019? They owned congress and the whitehouse. Dems didn’t increase the spending.
