Hitler simultaneously made positive references about Muslim culture and Muslims as potential collaborators, such as: "The peoples of Islam will always be closer to us than, for example, France" Hitler said that the Germans would have become heirs to "a religion that believed in spreading the faith by the sword and in subjugating all nations to that faith. Such a creed was perfectly suited to the German temperament."
Hitler's connection to Mohammad Amin al-Husseini, who served as the Mufti of Jerusalem until 1937 – which included his asylum in 1941, with the honorary rank of an SS Major-General, and recognition as an "honorary Aryan," – has been interpreted by some as a sign of respect
He certainly was an interesting figure and if it had not been for the Balfour Treaty and the way the Arabs were subsequently treated by the Jews and British it is doubtful he would of brought antisemitism into Islamic Fundamentalism. But as I said Palestine was a quiet backwater until massive Jewish Immigration. Husseini was and remains a highly controversial figure. Historians dispute whether his fierce opposition to Zionism was grounded in nationalism or antisemitism or a combination of both. Opponents of Palestinian nationalism have used Husseini's wartime residence and propaganda activities in Nazi Germany to associate the Palestinian national movement with European-style anti-Semitism.[17]While his ideological influence on post-war Palestinian nationalism is minimal,[clarification needed] al-Husayni's legacy is of interest to modern scholars of Political Islam for his role in introducing radical antisemitism into Islamic fundamentalism
while others characterize it as a relationship born out of political expediency. You missed a bit I cannot think why!
Whenever Jews lived on Muslim land they were dhiminies. Perhaps you can explain why the Muslims ignored their own religious doctrine for these periods you claim.
Most Muslims fought and died on our side https://www.juancole.com/2014/06/remembering-muslim-fought.html
I never trusted Juan Cole, and now I know I was right all along. He's so full of it. Pakistan didn't exist during WWII. It was carved out of India by the British in 1947. Those Muslims who supported Britain were Indians, not Pakistanis. Would you say that Israel fought against Nazis, because some Jews who fought against Nazis became personalities in Israel? Senegal was at the time a French colony, they had little choice but fight on the French side. Arguments against the "all Muslims were Nazi allies" theory - real arguments, based on facts not wishful thinking and distortions of historical truth - are easy to find. Not for Juan Cole, though. He's making the same logical fallacies as his opponents: hasty generalization and dehumanization of Muslims, pretending they're basically all the same. It's the "look, some Muslims fought on the good side, so all Muslims are good" fallacy vs "look, some Muslims fought on the bad side, so all Muslims are bad" fallacy. Why is so hard for people on both sides to accept that Muslims are human beings like everybody else, each with his or her unique personality, each perfectly able to act differently from the others?
Of course you would not like Juan Cole. He is professor of History (Middle East) at the University of Michigan and knows what he is talking about. I looked for it because it is what I remembered learning in school. Obviously the Muslims haters are trying to re-write history a usual. What was India then is Pakistan now, this is the same kind of argument people make to say 'there were no Palestinian people so we have the right to take their homes, their water and shoot them dead or maim them for life for doing protest marches. https://www.thenational.ae/second-world-war-record-of-muslims-is-worth-marking-1.462418 Here is a piece on the Nazis and Muslims http://www.projetaladin.org/holocau...wers/the-nazis-the-holocaust-and-muslims.html That article speaks of the Muslims of Albania giving refuge to Jews and of course it is well known that Turkey did too. a bit from the Juan Cole article I left out This is talking about the film on Noor Inayat Khan https://www.huffpost.com/entry/how-muslims-won-the-secon_b_5202541 Here an academic who has written a book on the subject of Muslims fighting with the Nazis answers some questions. Regardless of the desire to get them on side. the Nazis apparently executed thousands believing they were Jews due them being circumcised . https://en.qantara.de/content/interview-with-historian-david-motadel-hitlers-muslim-stop-gaps
It would be Islam Hitler admired, not Muslims. Muslims are the victims of Islam, just as the German people were victims of Nazism..
Really? Is it your understanding that Hitler specifically sought out Christians to do his dirty work? Where did you get this information, and do you have a link?
Rather easy. You can look up what the % of Christians were in Nazi Germany. That's the group he recruited from. And I can tell you, that % was SKY high.
I don't have to look up anything. It's you who is making the claims. Are these the same 'Capitalist' hordes you're referring to on anther thread?
The discussion about Christians and Nazis is an off topic distraction intended by Liberals to draw the discussion away from the Palestinians. Here is a quote from Wikipedia about the Nazis "Documents used in evidence at the Nurmeberg Trials concluded that the Nazis planned to de-Christainize Germany. A report entitled {The Nazi Master Plan; The Persecution of Christian Churches} prepared by the Office of Strategic Services (forerunner of the American CIA) says: {Important leaders of the National Socialist party would have liked complete extirpation of Christianity and the substitution of a purely racial religion.}" "We live in an era of the ultimate conflict with Christianity. It is part of the mission of the SS to give the German people in the next half century the non-Christian ideological foundations on which to lead and shape their lives." Heinrich Himmler 1937. Again from Wikipedia, "In January 1934. Hitler had appointed Alfred Rosenburg as the cultural and educational leade of the Reich. Rosenburg was a neo-pagan and notoriously anti-Catholic." Going on, "During the War, Rosenburg outlined the future envisioned by the Hitler government for religion in Germany, with a thirty point program for the future of German churches. Among its articles: the National Reich Church of Germany was to claim exclusive control over all churches; publication of the Bible was to cease; crucifixes, Bibles and saints were to be removed from alters; and Mein Kamph was to be placed on alters as {to the German nation and therefore to God the most sacred book}: and the Christian Cross was to be removed from all churches and replaced with the swastika."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Nazi_Germany A census in May 1939, six years into the Nazi era[9] and after the annexation of mostly Catholic Austria and mostly Catholic Czechoslovakia[10] into Germany, indicates[11] that 54% considered themselves Protestant, 40% Catholic You go argue with numbers like that, that the Nazi army / SS etc wasn't totally massively Christian with numbers like this. Nothing lied about this source in the other thread: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Livre_Noir_du_Capitalisme
You're not even reading your own links! Just look over the first couple of paragraphs and you'll have an idea of what went on. Check out post 220.
You can say all you want about Hitlers way of trying to get rid of Christianity. Bottom line remains,.. that according to my source the Germans, after YEARS of being under the nazi regime,... claimed to be Christian,... on a MASSIVE scale.
What are your sources? Those who are interested can read the Wikipedia article "Nazi Persecution of the Catholic Church in Germany." I am not Catholic by the way.
