And the fake Russian propaganda was leaked to Buzzfeed. And thus fake Russian propaganda was used against DT in the election.
I know I would want verification, e.g., ..., you will see your no need for verification was done by the federal govt. https://thehill.com/opinion/white-h...-evidence-in-2017-alleging-clinton-foundation In addition to the IRS, the firm’s partners have had contact with prosecutors in the main Justice Department in Washington and FBI agents in Little Rock, Ark. And last week, a federal prosecutor suddenly asked for documents from their private investigation.
But it was the topic of the comment I responded to. Out in due time, apparently the 700 people working on it are finding more than they bargained for.
It's not that he accepted anything from the Russians, but that he didn't report their offer to the FBI. In the same way that Clinton didn't report the Ukrainians to the FBI.
I have already posted this, perhaps it would serve you well to read it once again. Hiring someone to do opposition research is an entirely legitimate campaign function. Given that a lot of Trump's businesses were overseas businesses, a lot of that work was going to be done by foreigners and acceptable overseas institutions and businesses. Wikipedia explains this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opposition_research Information gathering can be classified into three main categories: open-source research enabled by the Freedom of Information Act, covert operations or "tradecraft, " and maintenance of human systems of informants. Increasingly, data-mining of electronic records is used. Information is then stored for future use, and disseminated in a variety of ways. A local election sometimes has a staff member dedicated to reading through all of the opponents' public statements and their voting records; others initiate whisper campaigns that employ techniques of disinformation or "black ops" to deliberately mislead the public by advancing a pre-determined "narrative" that will present the opponent in a negative light. Another technique is to infiltrate the opposition's operations and position a paid informant there. "Gray propaganda" techniques are often used to release damaging information to news media outlets without its source being identified properly, a technique inherited from disinformation tactics employed by intelligence agencies such as the Office of Strategic Services during World War II. File-sharing between operatives of political parties is quite common. In the 2008 presidential election, a dossier of opposition research against Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin was posted in its entirety on a political blog site, Politico.com. The file was compiled by the staff of her opponent in the 2006 Alaska gubernatorial race, Tony Knowles. "Oppo dumps" are used by political campaigns to systematically supply files of damaging information to press outlets, including matters of the public record, video footage from party archives and private collections, as well as private intelligence gathered by operatives. Many prime time television and radio news commentaries rely on this supply of party-generated material because it is free, and therefore more cost-effective than paying investigative reporters.
Yeah, are you okay with this practice that both Trump and Clinton engaged in? Note that Trump didn't accept the useless pile of crap that the useless Russian was offering. Clinton on the other hand, GLADLY accepted the FRAUDULENT dossier!
And you don't understand the difference between working with allies, and a presidential candidate taking brides from foreign hostiles. Yes, receiving free information from a foreign hostile is accepting a bribe.
The dossier went right to the FBI. What's more, that was paid information from a former US intelligence operative, not a bribe from a hostile for favor or to influence the election. Clinton paid for opposition research. That is perfectly legal. Accepting free information from the former KGB, with the intent of undermining an election, is not.
Not much of a rebuttal, and one that clearly demonstrates the typical Trumpster ignorance of the basic facts. Steele reported what he was learning to the FBI. This was long before the “dossier” And the “dossier” was leaked AFTER the election, so your claims are false again...... Oh, and since many of the major claims in the collection of memos collectively referred to as the “dossier” HAVE been confirmed (particularly with regard to the Trump campaigns contacts with the Russians and his dependence on Russian money laundering), the “dossier” was not fraudulent, no matter how many times the man in your AM radio shouts otherwise.
So it's okay for Russia to give paid 'opposition research' to US political campaigns but not give it to candidates for free? The dossier did not go directly to the FBI, btw, and Steele was former British Intelligence, working on the Russian desk. That's how he got the Russian info from Russian contacts, similar to the way Adam Schiff got it perhaps, and containing as many facts.
LOL, even Steele said he couldn't verify it, Comey said it was unverified garbage, journalist Bob Woodward has been calling it “garbage” for more than two years. Former CIA Moscow station chief Daniel Hoffman said: “I called what bullshit the dossier was a year and a half ago … It’s likely FSB [the successor agency to the KGB] disinformation.” Which means the Democrats colluded with Russia against Trump. This whole Russia collusion investigation farce has been an investigation in search of a crime, based on hearsay.
From pages 1 and 2 of the report: https://cdn.cnn.com/cnn/2019/images/04/18/mueller-report-searchable.pdf You're welcome.
Oh, for crisakes! From article: "...according to several people familiar with the arrangement." More unnamed unidentified anonymous sources. #fakenews
What "Russian Fake News"? The Steele Dossier was Fake News from Russia with love for HRC and the DNC - is that what you are talking about?
When clandestine Russian operatives provided opposition slander about Trump to the HRC and the FBI The Clintons/FBI fed it to the MSM for publication. Yet another reason why everyone now knows that the DP + MSM = Fake News.
When did the Moonies buy MoJo? "The latest outrage on Twitter is George Stephanopoulos’s interview with Donald Trump: President Trump on Wednesday said he would consider accepting information on his political opponents from a foreign government, despite the concerns raised by the intelligence community and special counsel Robert S. Mueller III over Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. In an Oval Office interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Trump also said he wouldn’t necessarily alert the FBI if a foreign country approached his campaign with “oppo research” about his Democratic challenger. ...” That writeup is from the Washington Post, and it’s typical. Vox said the same thing. Ditto for the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. But there’s something odd about all this. Nowhere in the interview did Stephanopoulos use the word “government.” Neither did Trump. Here’s the closest they came: ... Trump: I think maybe you do both. I think you might want to listen. There’s nothing wrong with listening. If somebody called from a country, Norway, “We have information on your opponent,” oh, I think I’d want to hear it….If I thought there was something wrong, I’d go maybe to the FBI. If I thought there was something wrong. "Stephanopoulos is vague—“if foreigners, if Russia, if China”—and Trump merely talks about “somebody” calling from a foreign country. ABC News itself was more careful than the rest of the media; in their teaser for the interview they reported that Trump said he wouldn’t go to the FBI if “foreign figures” approached him with information. So be careful with the “Trump admits he’d take oppo from foreign governments” stuff. It just gives Trump a huge opening to yell “FAKE NEWS!” and claim that he never said any such thing." MOTHER JONES, Trump Never Said He’d Take Oppo From a “Foreign Government”, By Kevin Drum, 6/13/19. https://www.motherjones.com/kevin-d...said-hed-take-oppo-from-a-foreign-government/
None of that is true. But you Trumpsters have been repeating it to each other for years now. Indeed, much of the Steele “dossier” has been confirmed. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-39435786 Not that it is relevant. The idea that the investigation into Trump’s treasonous activities were triggered by this “dossier” is a right wing myth. The investigation began before the “dossier” existed.
Every American involved in a clandestine plot to rig an American election or engineer a coup against a sitting president is a traitor. I think we can all agree with that, and I think we can all agree with what the punishment for treason should be.
