So not only did this cowardly thug kill an innocent American for no good reason, he now gets $2,500 in monthly disability payments for the rest of his life. And the kicker? His "disability" is PTSD resulting from the killing. Wow. Kill an innocent man and the system pays you $2,500 a month for the rest of your life. If this coward lives for another fifty years, that will be $1.5 million in payments.

If there isn't a more perfect example of how insanely corrupt and unjust law enforcement has become in America, I haven't seen it.

How did a jury find this cop innocent or murder?

Because the suspect was reported to have been waiving a gun at people out of a hotel window and then reached behind his back while police were attempting to subdue him resulting in a procedural justified shooting. The DA tried second degree murder but the requirements were simply not met and the jury couldn't convict.

The Verdict was Expected (and par for the course).

Cops get away with Murder, Rape, Etc. all the time.

Gotta give this cop credit for "gaming the system".

    Cops are as Cops Do.:smh:

    For a number of reasons.

First of all, the jury was not allowed to see evidence of the cop's malicious intent. Specifically, the cop etched "your f*cked" on his service rifle, but the evidence was suppressed by a corrupt judge.

Secondly, many Americans are simply idiotic boot-lickers who will defend a cop's actions no matter how heinous or unjustified those actions may be.

Apparently, there is a belief prevalent among a significant percentage of the American population that a cop is justified in killing someone who poses no threat to anyone so long as the cop is afraid.

The jury could convict, but chose not to out of cowardice, ignorance, or some combination of the two.

The video evidence clearly proves that the victim was no threat to anyone. Killing someone who poses no threat is murder. Killing them intentionally is second degree murder. The actions of this thug cop meet the definition of the crime perfectly.

You can replace "cop" with "human beings" and your statements remain true. Justice isn't designed to satiate revenge desires its a mechanism for holding the state to the highest of standards. In this instance the state couldn't make its case. Just as the state has failed to do so countless times before and shall do again and again henceforth.

Well that's your opinion. But objectively the moment any suspect involved in a situation where firearms activity has been reported or suspected, reaches behind their back the criteria of self defense begins to become established. In this case the suspect didn't have a weapon on him at that moment but the officer had no way of knowing this and there are countless examples of when suspects do have guns and do manage to pull them and fire on officers sometimes resulting in death.

My opinion is consistent with facts, evidence, and the law.

There is a big difference between "begins to become established" and "established".

Imaginary dangers are not a legitimate pretext to use deadly force. Otherwise a cop could shoot anyone for any reason.

I watched the video myself and at 4:22 it does appear like he is reaching for something in his pocket or pants. If you were that cop, and he was reaching to his pocket what would you have done?

I wouldn't have done anything unless I visually identified a weapon first. You cannot shoot someone merely because you believe they're reaching for a weapon. You have to see the weapon first. And if a cop cannot handle that responsibility, then they have no business being a cop. Plenty of grocery stores are hiring cashiers.

This is the innevitable result of unions, lawyers and insurance agencies taking a more active role in the training of our law enforcement than We The People do. They train them to shoot first as ask questions later because its cheaper. When was the last time you went to city council to review law enforcement training procedures, or petitioned your mayor about it?

Are you sure this policy won't cost the lives of many cops who will be prohibited from defending themselves because they couldn't react quickly enough?

    Isn't that the essential point?

A trigger happy cop can always say "I felt threatened" and get away with cold-blooded murder.

There is no policy that a cop may shoot when he emotionally feels threatened.

My feeling was that the officer delayed placing the suspect in physical custody. As I remember minutes went by as the cop had the fully supine man inch forward. I felt then as I do now that the officer was provoking an excuse to use force. It was truly sick to watch.

    Yeah.

But, if he does shoot someone under those circumstances, there is an overwhelming chance that he will exonerated.

There is video of it, you should watch it before making your opinion based on what you read.

Second, tons of evidence was suppressed in the trial.

If this ‘police officer’ represents America, I hope we go up in a pile of flames — we deserve it. Hopefully he is judged for his actions in the most harshest of ways.
