    Kind of a bit revisionistic. I can't speak for other Southwest states but California was founded around the same time as the American revolution. Spain was in control of California for nearly 100 years, then Mexico broke away from Spain and California was under Mexican rule. Just about every town/ city/ river/ mountain/ valley are Spanish words; many are named after saints or Christian doctrine [Sacramento]. The only large city besides Los Angeles where you hear more Spanish spoken is Miami. Mexican-American/ Norte Americano/ Californio is the largest ethnic group but I am part Puerto Rican and many others come from El Salvador/ Guatemala/ Honduras.

    I don't know of a huge movement of Californians into Colorado. Places like Las Vegas/ Portland/ Seattle/ Phoenix have many ex-Californians and Texas is increasingly seeing a significant migration of Californians. Colorado, btw, is a beautiful state; many in the Southwest rely on Rio Colorado water.

    CNN did a report on a town in the Midwest that will die if all the undocumented are deported. Agriculture areas can not survive without manual labor.

    It's OK because they've been told it's OK by their leaders and media. When the left denies they're for open borders we all know they're lying. Let me put it this way: If a guy robs a bank and manages to escape, the left would say we should never hunt him down because he was just looking for a better life. They would also say we shouldn't put the guy in jail because it would separate families. Wait, they would never say that about bank robbers, but they literally say that for illegals. Liberal hypocrisy is simply astounding.

    Here in NM Spanish was spoken for hundreds of years before English, in the hinterlands there are people who speak a version from the 1600s. There are hundreds of thousands of descendants of Spanish settlers from the 1600s and the Reconquest in the early 1700s, and most of them are as upset at the illegal invasion as anybody. Our former GOP hispanic governor succeeded in taking away driver's licenses from illegals.

    You live in New Mexico but don't seem to be bothered by how much Spanish is spoken. The indigenous tribes in New Mexico are fascinating. Spaniards were not any nicer than Americans. There's regular vandalism of Fr Serra statues here.

    Because it was spoken for hundreds of years before English. Very different from always English-speaking areas now being forced to press 1 for English.

    The indigenous tribes were brutal also, and were involved in cannibalism. I once had an Apache hunting guide (big conservative) tell me his great-grandmother was kidnapped from another tribe, nice. When the Spanish were kicked out the Pueblo Indians were begging them to came back as they were getting the stuffing kicked out of them by the Apaches and Comanches. The Reconquest brought peace.

    Those thugs should be prosecuted.

    There are many anti christian commies in mexico still.

    Much of the mexicans who settled in east LA were refugees of the christero war, where commies hung catholics from telephone polls for miles.

    The mexican commies even had child soldiers, just as the cartels use them today.
