People have been investing in Latin American countries for generations but these investments are never secure, given their propensity for electing left wing governments, or 'strong men', who will nationalize any companies which are too successful. Or they'll overtax foreigners simply because they're foreigners. There is no long term philosophy or Constitution that will protect citizens, or investors, over the long term.

These countries have great cimates, great soil, a great location but continue to fail. The governments tends to look down on their people and, having volunteered in schools myself, they seem to deliberately want to dumb down their citizenry while the elites go to private schools. In fact that's now the trend in the US.

 

But he has 'nuanced' thinking.

 

Brazil was supposed to break into the first world a few years ago. Boy did that lie come to a head when the world saw how far behind they are when they couldn’t even manage an Olympics. We’ve been doing it before air conditioning and Nike shoes were invented.

 

The last Presidential was hugely important but the next one is doubly so. If the Dems hold Congress then the country just may spin out of control, and it seems there are people who actually want that.

The Democrats are eager to get as many foreigners into the country before the next elections because they see the risk. Giving foreigners who have entered the country illegally driver's licenses, and then allowing those licenses as voter ID, is a giveaway.

 

I wonder how many Cons would give up their homes if they actually knew how many illegals were used in the building of it? I think none and they probably all loved the price they paid due to that illegal labor.

 

No argument but a country can't just survive on tourism. People who work in banana husbandry are mostly poor. Basically the solution is for the wealthier countries to support every effort to sustain stability in Latin America. We are all Americans seeking cooperation similar to the European Union. Francis says we are responsible for those in need meaning we accept immigrants as much as possible just like Middle-eastern refugees in Europe.

 

You’re assuming we have a choice. How many liberals bitch about climate change yet still drive cars or use transportation reliant on oil, use the internet mostly powered by oil and purchase electronic devices which poison the planet.

And besides, I don’t think anyone would mind homes being built by legal residents. Name one Republican official against legal entrance into the country?

 

I don't know who you are referring to because to my knowledge the IRS was found by a Senate committee to not to have done any wrongdoing. I'm talking about that far right group that claimed to have conservative fiscal responsibility but apparently only when dealing with Democrats. I believe the debt that they rallied about is still going up.

These countries have had centuries to get their acts together but the laws and cultures don't allow it. Why do you suppose Canada and the United States have done so well, despite their climates, while Latin America has done so poorly in comparison? It's not that the people are not hard workers, they are, nor are they born with any intellectual disadvantages. It is the laws and the cultures, inherited from Spain, that keeps these fine people under the thumb of the elites.

Given a change in the laws, or adopting the US Constitution and Bill of Rights, would change the countries in a generation, but the elites would never allow it. They have the addictive power and want it maintained for themselves and their wealthy families for successive generations.

 

Not to put too fine a point on it, but they are total opposites.

Sure, and by maintaining open border policies the America poor will continue to be undercut by cheap foreign labor. The Democrats know this but don't care, knowing that they'll get their votes and the Black vote, despite Blacks often being the victims of this policy. The good news is that many Blacks are beginning to recognize these policies which have devastated Black communities.

 

Do you know of any political movement that didn't begin with 'a small group'? Perhaps iit will go nowhere but it should also be recognized.

 

If that were true, it would have happened when Obama had unified control of government, and there certainly would have been a lot of pushback against Obama's deportations.

 

I would rather not waste to much time on obvious nonsense, so perhaps if you could give me your own personal definitions of those words, I could see what you're talking about. If at this point you don't understand how those words are opposites I imagine discussion is probably fruitless.

People try to lump all Mexican, Central and South American ‘Hispanics’ into one group when there is the elite ruling class made up mostly of folks of European descent........then there’s the poor, illiterate descendants of the Mayans, Aztecs and Incas. As Trump said ‘they are not sending us their best’..........the elites want to use us as an overflow/safety valve.........with their peons working here sending billions of untaxed ‘remittances’ going back to their economies........
