I don't mind the concept of a universal basic income, but ONLY if you have to do something for it. Pick up trash, volunteer at a shelter, etc, there are too many lazy ass people in this country always looking for a handout. Even if it is minimal, 4 hours a week, it must be tied to some type of contribution to society. It would take only a month before the gibmedats would not be happy with whatever the sum was, it would not be enough and they would immediately cry racism or sexism, or whateverism at the amount. You all know it to be true.

    I get what you're saying...

But, how long until the investor class claims that their time is too valuable to waste at a job? If they can be exempt from a job then so should everybody.

Someone who can lose with some style and grace would be nice.

If Trump gets beat, do you think he will go out with style and grace?

I don't make that kind of money now. That would be money I get from the Freedom Dividend if Andrew Yang gets elected.

I like a Warren/Castro ticket. Of course, I may change my mind before November 2020 rolls around. I agree with you about opening the primary up.

If the Fox News poll is correct, 72% of Democrats want a candidate that will provide steady, reliable leadership vs. 25% who prefer a candidate with bold new ideas. Question 5.

    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fox-news-poll-6-16

That makes sense to me. I think that is exactly what independents are looking for also. The problem is that the Democrats have to decide whom that candidate is. The candidate able to provide the steady, reliable leadership the Democrats say they want, will probably lose in the Democratic primaries as it is the motivated far left who love those bold new ideas such as Medicare Care for all, reparations, forgiving all student debt, a living wage etc. who are the ones who go to the polls during the primaries probably defeating the candidate who would be a steady, reliable leader. Defeating the candidate who would be very attractive to independents in favor of one who won't be.

I just want an honest person to run against tRump and that shouldn't be hard to do or require that many people trying to do so.

I really think it's a bad idea to focus so much on tRump and promise the moon. Our government has been so dysfunctional for so long, a President can't make needed changes on issues that have bipartisan support. Congress and even state offices should be the priority. If you can't run a successful campaign against tRump, you should quit politics.

Not based on tRump, but in general, a bunch of people should quit politics.

I have some idea what it feels like to grow old. Look at Mueller, Biden and tRump today and ten years back. It's obvious, they aren't the person they once were. I can toss in a bunch of other politicians, Supreme Court Justices, but look at all the politicians in states for whatever job. At some point, people become too old to function well.

Politicians also have an exclusion principle. The offices they hold are finite, so being in that office excludes someone else being there. Why be in that office when you know you are over the hill or should know it? Create a job and get your wrinkled ass out of there, you have grandchildren to baby sit or just be around your family, you did yours. Somebody will be in the Presidency, the Senate, the House, the Supreme Court, Governor, you name it and it doesn't need you.

I've been thru Reagan and I'd rather have younger people holding office. Reagan was really out of touch as a President from disability, but he still could communicate and was a very likeable person. He was too old.

Congress makes the federal laws, but fat chance of them doing jack.

My mind drifts heavily into state's rights. Many times states could come up with solutions, but they often put things off for the federal government, it happens with money concerns.

The Civil War actually started over people being stupid enough to fire on a federal fort. The Civil War didn't change the 10th Amendment. It's a stretch to claim the Civil War started over state's rights, as if all the other important things like slavery and using military force against the United States weren't involved.

In a time when billionaires are making 3-4% gains in personal income per year (or more), & the vast majority of American workers have been denied real income increases for several decades, while prices continue rising, I have little sympathy or understanding for your post.
