If Mexi-fornia is so fricking great, then why does it come in 38th place?

Heck, red states like Nebraska, North Dakota, Wyoming, Kentucky, Kansas, South Dakota, Indiana, Utah, Montana, Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, Idaho, Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia have better school systems than the extreme left-wing state of Mexi-fornia.

Blue states don't value a quality education.

That way socialism seems like a good idea.

California is slowly slipping into third world status.

    Liberal policies on full display.

As if you had a clue.

You have no idea where these figures came from, who compiled them, or what they mean.

This is nothing more than an article from a freelance writer on a clickbait website.

Without some context or explanation, these ranking mean nothing at all.

But you took them at face value without asking any of these questions. That’s how easy it is to punk right wingers with made up facts. None of you ever fact check any of the trash you repost.

Ranking Government run schools from Bad to The Worse is futile due to the variables involved.

It’s possible to draw solid conclusions based on the facts.

States with a higher percentage of whites do better than average.

The top states have a mix of red and blue states, as do the bottom states. But on average the blue states score higher due to socio-economic issues. For example, if Texas was limited to Dallas, Houston, and their suburbs, Texas would score much higher. But a sizable number of the people here are from the third world, which hurts us statistically. Massachusetts doesn’t border Mexico - huge advantage.

I doubt that you could produce reliable evidence to support your stereotype about white schools.

And, I doubt that you could support an argument about Houston, Dallas, etc, since Texas is one of the few states (perhaps the only one) that actually has a state school system.

This fact alone makes these claims dubious (and for the reason you cite). Texas is the only state taht I know of that has a statewide school system. Most delegate the authority to county and city systems, which are all run independently. In most jurisdictions, they have taxing authority, too, independent of the state legislature.

The more well know ranking groups put Loudoun and Fairfax County, Virginia as either #1 or #2., and Montgomery and Howard County, Maryland as #3 or 4.

All of these jurisdictions are culturally diverse, and money rains on public education in all four jurisdictions because the voters there understand both the economic value of getting their children the best resources and the fact that businesses invest in places that put a high value on good schools.

As a parent with a son in a Loudoun County HS, that works for me... Good to see Virginia #4 overall, regardless of whatever methodology is used...

Also damn expensive to live here, and schools is one of the primary reasons...

Baltimore and the Dem gerrymandered state of MD suffers a great deal when it comes to education: https://www.bizjournals.com/baltimo...yland-school-districts-rank-among-top-10.html

    "
Baltimore City Public Schools spent the fifth-most per student among the 100 largest school districts in the U.S. during fiscal year 2016, according to data released Monday by the Census Bureau.

. Overall, five Maryland school districts ranked among the top 10."

With all that money you'd think you get some results....think again:

    https://www.baltimoresun.com/education/bs-md-nations-report-card-20180409-story.html

    "
Baltimore City students scored near the bottom in reading and math compared to children in other cities and large urban areas on an important national assessment given in 2017, according to scores released Tuesday morning.

In fourth- and eighth-grade reading, only 13 percent of city students are considered proficient or advanced. In fourth-grade math, 14 percent were proficient and in eighth-grade math 11 percent met the mark, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, a federally mandated test from the U.S. Department of Education."

Cummings and the Dems seem to continue to want to keep people uneducated and in the dumps

They used to be near the top. Wonder how it would have been had we had merit-based immigration all these years.

I agree, assuming that this table is accurate, i think you'd be hard pressed to make is say that school quality is related to politics. I'm not saying that there isn't an element of truth to that statement but this table does not illustrate that.

I think we'd be better off comparing the quality of the education we provide to our kids as a nation as compared to the rest of the world then with some nationalists pride we make our kids the best educated on the planet.
    Yes Nationalism!!!!

I just this past weekend spent 2 days "close to the ocean" in NJ, trying like hell to donate money to the state via their casino system.

Ha Ha DIDN'T WORK, suckers... I was up @ $140 (although my 3 buddies lost a combined 2K)

But I did have a couple of dealers bitch and moan about their tax situations... So I guess it sucks all over....

Look at the top 15 states. All heavily white except for Virginia and (maybe) Delaware.

In Texas, it’s obvious the region along the Rio Grande drags down our state averages in every index. We do have the “Robin Hood” tax plan where more than half of our local tax revenue is taken from our local schools and given to the schools along the border.

Yes, socio-economic issues absolutely make most of the difference.

I don’t comment on unreliable information from sources that don’t support or document their sources or methodologies.

I live in Los Angeles and the schools are ranked among the lowest in spite of our taxes being among the highest.

Robots are racist, birth canals are racist, dogs parks are racist, sleeping 8 hours a day is racist, air is racist, washing your car is racist, mowing your lawn is racist, cooking soup in a pot is racist, being polite is racist, eating cheese is racist, growing cauliflower is racist, smiling is racist, not wanting feces on the sidewalk is racist, study habits are racist, time is racist, theater lighting and stage design is racist.

Each of these things were topics in articles from places such as Vox, HuffPo, BuzzFeed, CNN, and so on. Before I hammer home the point I'll drop a few more.

We're all dead in 12 years due to cow farts, attacking rats and drugs is code for attacking blacks, mike brown had his hands up, Hillary has a 98% chance of winning, hamburgers are Russian agents, Trump puts migrant kids in cages, <sum=every single one of the thousands if not tens of thousands of articles written about the great Russian witch hunt over the last 2+ years>.

Ok so back to the point, why did I type all this out? Because your post left me with the impression that you think being fooled by **** on the internet is a right-wing affliction when clearly it is not. Every one of those things I typed (and hundreds more) can be found on clickbait websites where left-wingers take the claims at face value without ever fact checking because that's how easy it is to appeal to confirmation bias.

I don't understand what you mean when you say that Texas has a state school system. Could you elaborate please?

    https://www.mytexaspublicschool.org/the-school-system.aspx

Is that different than other states? How?

    Thank you...
