If you want to see socialism in action just fly down to Venezuela.

    That's what always happens.

Good thing I'm not a socialist, ain't it?

And the failure of Venezuela is 99% the failure Hugo Chavez's foreign policy.

    Well, glad we agree.

Any nation in this hemisphere that fails to slip under the radar of the Titan in the North (or the Great Satan, if you prefer) is going to find itself in ruins.

No one's talking about "faults." I'm just telling you that any country, no matter it's political orientation, that falls on our bad side is in trouble. This is, more often than not, leftists, for a variety of reasons.

    Just a literal face palm.

They need to get with the fact that the best economic system is a capitalistic one with socialist elements.

Just get the cronies of Govt, and hold the market to a fair account and it'll work fine.

Oh, cute, you think we "chose" to be supremely powerful.

You don't have a real sense of history.

That's alright, I think I'm the only one.

that's where capitalism. Us we chose to be capitalist.

Being socialist turned your country into a s******* until the leader decides to exterminate the people. You seen this happen over and over and over.

I don't think you're going to find anything in history that let us to be a superpower that wasn't ultimately a choice made by the American people

    That's a relief.

If any group or individual says that they are socialist then ok they are. Bernie calls himself a socialist so ok Bernie is a socialist.

So advocating for Socialism and claiming to be a capitalist makes you a capitalist?

You can have the theory anything you want.

    Theories don't effect truth.

What do you mean by "advocating socialism"? ? We would need to see what was actually advocated. When LBJ had advocated for Medicare the opponents said that it was socialism or specifically socialized medicine.
It is not. Social Security is a concept that very early 20th centhury socialists and non ocialists advocated. So does anyone who advocates Social Secuirity a socialist? FDR was liberal but hardly a socialist.

Workers Compensation was a concept advocated by socialists and others. Do you say that anyone who advocates Workers Comp a socialist? Remember this while you contemplate the question Workers Comp is an insurance product facilitated through a capitalist entity - an insurance company.

What I am saying is that just because some people call something socialism that does not necessarily mean that it is socialism.

advocating for policy that would make our country a socialist country.

To some degree they were correct.
you can't argue that that's not socialist, it says so in the name

no, because if at the same time you argue for private ownership of the means of production you're clearly not socialist.

Further FDR was absolutely not liberal. Not by any means.

Depends upon how the term theory is used. The theory of evolution is called a theory but go try to proove that there is no such thing as evolution. One who believes that Adam and Eve were the very first and only first people created by God and not evolved but can anyone proove that theory?? See the words " believes"! Just to throw more crap into the game some people believe that Adam was not created by God out of dust but that ancient space aliens altered the DNA of certain mammals and "crested" man.

    +*********************************
Can you define what you mean by a "socialist country"!
    ***
True that Social Security or technically an economic social safety net is a program that socialist had advocated but that one program may be socialist and adopted by a country that does not mean that the country is socialist.

If you are talking about a scientific theory, they aren't based on belief they are based on evidence though typically incomplete.

To anyone who suggests the theory is dismissible because there's not absolute proof I would ask them if they believe the theory of gravity is dismissible because there is no absolute proof and there are people that think it is.

More on what is a socialist program or policy! A country such as maybe Sweden is considered to be a democratic socialist country. Sweden has elections to select their leaders. We the US are a capitalist country and we have elections to select our leaders so:

does the fact that we have elections and Sweden a socialist country has election does that make us socialist?

Does having elections make Sweden a capitalist country?
