Normal Americans are looking upon the protests in Hong Kong with a bit of nostalgia; Hong Kong residents who wish to escape the ChiCom government have displayed what could only be described as American patriotism by hoisting American flags and singing the U.S. national anthem.

And there is nary a flag-burning American leftist in sight.

    https://www.theweek.in/news/world/2...-wave-american-flag-sing-national-anthem.html

We do see communist soldiers doing their best liberal/progressive/socialist/AntiFa impressions when they attempt to rip the American flag out of the hands of those waving it.

Thus, we see the quandary for American leftists; they usually rejoice in mocking normal, patriotic Americans who celebrate our freedom and liberty:

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/the-lefts-patriotism-problem/ar-AAE2u8A

Now, regardless of how much they envy the ChiCom's power and one-party communist system, they have to pretend to admire Hong Kong residents who seek the same liberty and freedom normal Americans enjoy...

The Bloodier the Red Chinese are, the more the Left carries water for them. Not just on trade, industrial espionage, but even mass murder does cause the US Left to turn from their allegiance to the Red Chinese, on every issue.

China has a history of murdering millions when they think benefits the small group that controls everything there. This is what tyranny and despotism is like. This is why our Constitution and Declaration are so important, they are what sets us apart from those the Chinese will likely soon crush.

They are known as RED - Chinese for a reason:

REMEMBERING THE HORRIFIC RED AUGUST: In August of 1966, egged on by Chairman Mao, student groups calling themselves the “Red Guard” had been popping up at schools, colleges, and universities all over the country. They were drunk with power and convinced of their own victimhood, like our current day Antifa.

To rebel is justified!” Mao told them.

At an August mass rally in Tiananmen Square attended by over a million, Mao’s right-hand man, Lin Biao, instructed his young audience on what to do. Standing next to Mao, Lin Biao exhorted them to destroy “all the old ideas, old culture, old customs and old habits of the exploiting classes.”

    Yes, all of them.

And destroy they did. (The Cultural Revolution: A People’s History 1962-1976), the first death occurred in a school for girls run by Beijing Normal University. On August 5th, Red Guard students accused five of the school’s administrators of disloyalty to the Revolution, and Negan-like, forced them to kneel, the students then hit them with nail-spiked clubs. When the vice principal, Bian Zhongyun, after hours of torture, lost consciousness, her body was stuffed into a garbage can.

Mao ensured that no measures would be taken against these violent youths. At Beijing’s 101st Middle School, where powerful party leaders sent their own children, these sadistic bastards forced more than 10 teachers to crawl on their hands and knees through red hot coals. In the same city, at the Third Middle School for Girls, the principal was beaten to death and the dean hanged herself. At another Beijing middle school, the principal was forced to stand in the summer heat while students poured boiling water on him. And at yet another, a biology teacher was tortured and dragged to her death. Her colleagues were then forced to take turns beating her dead body.

Fellow students from so-called “bad backgrounds” (the sons and daughters of alleged capitalists, landlords, rich peasants and counter-revolutionaries) were forced to engage in heavy labor, locked up, and sometimes tortured to death.

Beijing was the epicenter of the most extreme varieties of violence during that month. In Shanghai, things were also out of control. More than 150 faculty members were arrested at their homes and paraded around the campus of Huadong Teachers University in dunce caps with heavy signs around their necks identifying them as “Reactionary Academic Authorities.” Rampaging Red Guard students destroyed everything they viewed as “bourgeois luxuries”—things made of silk or velvet, cosmetics, fashionable clothes and curio shops. Flower shops were a particular target. On August 23, 36 such shops were attacked.

In Xiamen, Red Guard gangs destroyed anything thought to be old and bourgeois or foreign—from ornamental brass doorknockers to antique signs to decorative elements on buildings. Shoes with pointed toes were confiscated, and high heels were sliced off. Wearing foreign or bourgeois fashions or hair styles could get one attacked. Passersby with long braids or foreign hairstyles were forcibly shorn. Stove-pipe pants—a style thought to be foreign—were ripped up.

The Liberation Army Daily, which was directly under the control of Lin Biao (and Mao), continued to support—even rhapsodize—the actions of the Red Guard. On August 23rd, it cheered them on: “What you did was right, and you did it well!” The following day, it promised the students the support of the army and declared to its readers: “Learn from the Red Guards! Respect the Red Guards!

As the month wore on, massive book burnings took place in several cities. Temples, churches and public monuments were attacked. Staggering numbers of homes were ransacked in search of evidence of the occupants’ disloyalty or a piece of porcelain to smash.

August of 1966 was a ghastly month in China. But then again the Cultural Revolution was just getting started.

By the end, according to Dikötter, “between 1.5 and 2 million people were killed, but many more lives were ruined through endless denunciations, false confessions, struggle meetings and persecution campaigns.”

And no less than Lin Biao himself was dead under mysterious circumstances before it was over.

They don't have to. They can make excuses. lol

    Immigrants:

Mexican nationalists burning flags or Hong Kong's residents... hmm... whose application for asylum would hold more weight? Surely, it's the nationalists... for some.

As I see it, we're in a no-win situation here with Hong Kong. We can't back the Hong Kong people without risking war with China, a situation no one wants, but at the same time, we can't turn our backs on free people without seeming like fair-weather friends. I can only hope that Trump et. al. can get the Chinese to back off without repressing the Hong Kong-ese by making it clear to them that having a free Hong Kong is to their advantage. Which it really is.

What we are witnessing in Hong Kong is what America will look like if the Dems ever win the White House again. After Trump they wouldn't leave anything to chance and go full throttle Iron Fisted Communism like Stalin on steroids.

You had better not hope Trump doesn’t take Xi’s side. He’s that stupid, and that faithless.

He's not going to side with a communist, be it Xi or Pelosi.

And he's not going to allow it to be a proxy conflict, like any democrat/communist running for POTUS would do.

Biden is actually China's man .

June 4, 1989. The day China could have become Iraq and Syria, but didn't.

Now they're given another opportunity at democracy. Will they accept like Iraq and Syria did or reject it an remain under Communist rule

Robert Byrd, Democrat Senator and Grand Wizard of the KKK. Possibly Chuck Schumer although I hear he prefers "black face".

Why is it sooo important to choose sides in someone else's fight over court jurisdictions?

A Democrat still upset with losing the Civil War. That is why they are KKK members.

Who was the Democrat caught doing "black face" at a party? Bill Clinton did it once too.
