There are blogs throughout the world which are right wing, left wing, try to be in the Middle, etc. but you specifically mentioned 'Russian troll factories' as being the source.

How do these Russian pro Trump blogs differ from the US Pro Trump blogs, the Polish Pro Trump blogs, and so on? Has Russia become a particularly scary word among the Leftists? There are also many Anti Trump, anti American blogs scattered around the world. Should that be of concern?

In any federal system this will be an issue to some degree.

In parliamentary systems the leader of government is appointed by the lower house's representatives. Since representatives are elected within their electorates this has the same function as an electoral college - albeit on an electorate rather than state level.

Indeed in 1990 Bob Hawke (on the left, recently died) won the Australian election when his opponent had 50.1% of the popular vote.

You can get past this by electing all members of the legislature as well as the head of state by national proportional representation. In an office of one that means a national popular vote.

Democracy does not become more "democracyey" because you centralize it. The influence of the individual is more pronounced when the ratio of representatives to citizens is lower. In the early US as an example, the national government had little power and the average New Hampshire representative had 2,800 eligible voters. Today in Congress this ratio exceeds 1:700,000.

One size does not fit all. We are not all the same. Democracy works best on a local scale where is is accountable to the individual.

How do you know why they did it? Maybe they're like the dems who run to the border crying about the alleged horrid conditions when the cities they have run for decades are total slums. That couldn't be for political points could it???? Nah.
Personally, I wouldn't pick up a single piece of trash in these places. The democrats run the cities, and the people who live there, all of them democrats, make the messes. Let the dems clean it up. Baltimore's nicknames are Bodymore, and Murderland, and tourists are warned to stay in groups, don't flash cell phones, be mindful of your environment, etc. They are warned about going to the hoods, and most tourists don't anyway. So if tourists don't go to the hood, how can they throw massive amounts of trash away in the hoods?
