Sorry - sovereign citizens are too weird to bother with.

I do not ask others to contribute to programs I feel create a civil society. I would much rather that the federal government not be involved at all, but there it is.

The neighbors can't vote to steal my house, since the government already owns the land it sits on....

No, actually I believe 'helping others' is part of a civil society. However, I prefer to do it of my own volition, and other than throwing money at it.

The issue is basic morality. We seem to have lost the basic ability to tell right from wrong in this country and that is why we are self destructing.

While the weight of morals seems to be on top of those who have money (noblesse oblige), and not on those who have no problem with accepting other people's money (assistance), perhaps we need to look at it from another direction.

Some of us still know right from wrong without the presumption of judging others by our own morals.

The weight of morals is equal, regardless of wealth.

No it isn't. All you have to do is follow some sort of media for 24 hours, and you will be provided with a slant that you couldn't bobsled on.

If you believe such a thing, please provide valid links and sources that show people on the bottom of the monetary ladder are contributing more to the societal pool than those even half way up the ladder. After all, if morals do not recognize wealth, then there should be some references.

Morals like justice are supposed to apply to everyone the same. Of course that is not reality.

Conservatives will mostly say yes.. Cons basically follow Klingon Heathcare rules. "The sick and old are useless and should die quickly so as to stop bothering healthy people. "

What is wrong with allowing people to die that cannot afford treatment? I mean come on, if people cannot afford a pair of shoes or food, they have to do without. It is a matter of expense. Life is a series of experiences built upon action and reaction.

Sovereignty is a myth. You are not sovereign, you own nothing and in fact you do not exist.

Would you agree with that if you were one of them? I know that will never happen to you but just imagine for the sake of argument. Would you just die without protest? Better yet, imagine it is your wife or son and imagine the treatment is effective and will save them. The only thing that stands between them and a long and happy life is money you do not have and cannot get through non-criminal means. Would you just let them die?

That's not what that poster meant, and he means to throw other people's money at it, not his own

It's so much easier and fun to spend someone else's money. We know the government likes to do it.....

    Good question.........

A question that factors into decisions made at very high levels in government....... especially since the time of the writings of Robert Thomas Malthus!

Neo-Malthusian Theory may be somewhat more relevant to these past five decades.....

Did P. M. Pierre E. Trudeau save the world environment?

One of the possible reasons as to why P. M. Pierre E. Trudeau would seemingly deliberately wreck a brilliant Canadian central banking policy that had been used from 1938 to 1974 might have been to stop followers of Tommy Douglas from gaining political power and spending far too much money in the opinion of some on health care for Canadians....... especially aging Canadians???

Plenty of people willing to vote to get their hands on other people's money. And they go on forums saying stuff about helping others

I say no, I think there should be a public option for those that can not afford to pay

So you want everybody to pay for them.

How about they contribute a little skin into the game?

I am ok with a co-payment with a public option, I pay a co-payment with private care - it prevents abuse where people go in thinking they have issues constantly when they do not

no one should be sentenced to death cause they are poor though

for the same amount all the American people pay private insurance, they would pay much less for medicare for all type plan in taxes

Shouldn’t there be a UHC so this is not an issue in the first place

UHC isn't the answer because all people want the best possible healthcare but the system can't afford it. So then you get reduced services followed by death panels and the system goes bankrupt.

The ripple effect of 'medicare for all' seems to be elusive for some. When you restrict the amount of reimbursement for services rendered, especially when the other costs remain the same: utilities, rent, insurances, payroll, etc. then it becomes a loosing proposition, and then you lose physicians, and future physicians. The ripple continues, points of access are no longer available, and people do without healthcare.

I've put this out there before: instead of penalizing those who can afford to pay for their healthcare, directly or by insurance, sliding scale clinics outside of ERs, staffed by interns who earn credits towards their education debt for hours volunteered.

So the only alternative is to let those who can afford it, access it, and the rest who cant to die off? That seems pretty cruel to me.
