I didn't see a thread about this yet, so I'll start out.
I thought Biden put serious hurt on both Sanders and Warren over healthcare.
He had them on the ropes both on how to pay for it and what happens to current coverage.
But I need to be careful because this is the same as proposals I have made here.
I think Julio crashed when he forgot what Biden said when he said Biden forgot what he said.
Same with Beto. While I can appreciate what he saw in Texas, I think he went over the top on gun control. He should get out soon and run for senate, but drop the gun stuff. It's Texas. :)
    The rest did "okay."
    Your thoughts?

It looked like a debate between losers to me- a battle to determine who would be chosen to lose the next election.

Keep thinking that surely there are some moderate democrats out there who don't want to sell voters free rides on the magic bus..... but so far, nobody has dared to go there.

You obviously didn't see the speech he gave in Baltimore during the debate. A rambling incoherent mess during which he ****ed up and blamed clean air and water on clean air and water environmental protections.

It was interesting to hear candidates discuss issues instead of calling people names. I may not agree with every detail I heard, but at least it was civil discourse for the most part.

The debate was among winners. Trump looks like a stooge compared to almost every last one.

I am quite satisfied that issues not personality dominated the discussions.

If a person doesn't understand something, it may seem to be a "rambling incoherent mess".
Then someone offers the same person free rides on the magic bus, and that makes great sense to them. It's a matter of perception and relevance to one's interests.
Those offering the free rides will be running another promotion with details on Oct 15th.

Just wondering why you'd listen to a Trump speech while the Dems were debating. Or do you know about his rambling speech because CNN told you about it?

Notice the Dems never mentioned the booming economy last night. Surprised they didn't promise to get rid of that, too. Which they most certainly would.

I cannot help but feel like the eventual Dem nominee is not yet in the field. The entire bunch seems unelectable in a general election, and it is truly hard to believe that Democrats will make it that easy for Trump.

They mostly seem to be learning and improving in debates. Booker translating English to Spanish was good. That was really smooth on more than one level. Much better than last time. Yang offering to buy votes was weird but not surprising. Biden and Klobuchar avoiding the race to the craziest. Yep, Biden looking a lot better. It was fun to watch. Had to keep shutting it off for a few minutes to take care of other things, but what I saw was entertaining and educational.

No worries but I think you’ve mistaken me for someone else. I don’t have enough constituents to fill a phone booth. I’m an independent, conservative, anarcho capitalist, classical liberal, voluntarist, libertarian, socialist with GOP roots!

Most people don’t see through the pandering or none of those candidates would have been on that stage. Booker was good last night because he reminded people of his abilities with humor. It was skillful politics which I can admire while simultaneously completely disagreeing with his platform. Same with Biden. He’s a nut, but he filled the void of (somewhat)reasoned policy well in last night’s debate. His campaign has figured out there is a desire for a candidate that isn’t a full on admitted authoritarian.

Yup, mistook you for someone else.
"You" referred to the Dem party.

    BTW
That's alot of antonyms in one sentence.

Well, when one chooses positions based on reason and facts, there isn’t a single party to represent you. No tribe for me. :(

Winners? Perhaps they prevailed against the others on that stage.. but by what metric? Certainly no metric based in sanity. I have come to the conclusion tht most of them know there is no chance they'll win against an incumbent president in strong economic times and are just throwing all of there wacky ideas on the wall to see what sticks.. then "moving to the middle" in 2024. That or they are just insane.. TDS deluxe.. and you can argue with an insane person (which is why I put the host of them on ignore here)

I only saw the highlights to be honest for two reasons.

    1) I can't vote in Dem primaries in my state so the choice for the nominee isn't up to me, I have no dog in the fight
    2) still too many candidates, i'll be more interested when field gets cut down to half or honestly down to the final 3,

I might watch debates if it gets down to 3 dems, not sure if they will be debating at that point... no guarantee, if there is anything else on TV i'l skip it.

I will watch when its down to Trump vs X, i'd be even more interested if it gets down to Trump Vs X vs 3rd party candidate.

The healthcare portion of the debate was disingenuous and I’m not talking about Sanders or Warren.

Our healthcare spending is at 17.8% of GDP and rising annually, how do we pay for it and what outcomes do we receive from that spending?

Come on people do the freaking math!

Any candidate advocating a cost efficient way to deliver healthcare should get your ear unless, of course, their idea of cost efficient is restricting access.

I’d prefer a smaller field and a different debate format. I’ll eventually get the former but unfortunately we’re stuck with the latter entertainment tonight BS until we demand substance and the culture changes.

    That said.

    To the board:

Yeah, I hate it when candidates offer us free stuff like big beautiful WALLS. Seriously, who would be so naive and irrational to fall for such an obviously pandering stunt? [rhetorical]

Rush shared his theory today that Castro was there to do a job --- to take Biden down. They can't seem to get rid of him. Hate to say this, but it appears, much to the chagrin of the establishment, Democrats aren't universally crazy enough to elect one of the wackos who were onstage without some help. I think, with CA moving up in the hit parade, a wacko will eventually win the nomination. This could be the one
